That was a poor, rushed response filled with assumptions and faulty notions. Next time, I’d advise you to bring along some facts instead of irrelevant questions because otherwise I see no reason to respond.
The databooks are relevant and are considered canon, same with the manga, plus it can’t get more valid that raw data/numbers. What made you question Orochimaro’s genjutsu abilities? Itachi himself realized that his genjutsu wouldn’t work, which is why he cut off his hand and released the jutsu. Orochimaro was also surprised he was caught in one, with good reason, since he broke Sasuke’s version while being practically dead.
Itachi had 5 in genjutsu, yet he was still caught by Kurenai. Just because you are a master genjutsu practitioner doesn’t mean you can’t get caught. I fail to see your point other than, falsely, discrediting Orochimaro. Or perhaps you’re implying that Orochimaro and Jiraiya fight the same or have the same mindset, which would be even worse.

Now, you are misquoting Itachi, great. Itachi is not sure about the outcome, even with just him and Kisame he’s merely commenting on Jiraiya’s strength, and with his extensive knowledge I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew about sage mode (e.g. frog song). Kisame standing next to him pretty much said the same thing (doubted whether or not Itachi could take him on), so are you questioning him also? Finally, could you tell me where other Akatsuki members were mentioned in the posted scan above? Are you a mind reader? Thought so…
If you read the post you’d noticed that I said that Itachi could not afford to fight Jiraiya, especially if he ever wanted to face Sasuke like he promised.
Thus, he probably exaggerated a little when he mentioned other people, or him and Kisame for that matter, but the facts remain; Itachi felt Jiraiya was a real threat and realized there was a likely scenario involving him dying in the confrontation (win or lose).More importantly the quotes stay the same.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Did you not see Kisame trying to chop off Naruto’s leg? Or is it something i’m imagining? Did Itachi not give the thumps up regarding the desired deaths of Kakashi and his buddies? Stop trying to deny facts to suit your arguments. I mean, conjecture all over the place.
Itachi personally recruited a 9 year old terrorist, Deidara. Itachi indirectly killed several tailed beast hosts by lending chakra to Pain, and he personally guaranteed that he’d weaken Konoha if he found out that Sasuke was killed. Danzo is an elder a big political figure within Konoha yet that didn’t matter to Itachi, at all. He also was responsible for what Sasuke became. What is my point? Itachi did whatever he deemed necessary both in regards to his cover, but also his own agenda.
How does that change anything that occurred prior to that? The intentions, actions, etc., were all there and the end result won’t change that.
Itachi is not evil he won’t kill for the fun of it. He knew backup would arrive, to help the jounins, he couldn’t fight Kakashi without MS, which meant he had to waste a Tsukuyomi. It resulted in him draining his chakra reserves and needing to retreat.
I hope you didn’t say that with a straight face :| because any credibility of yours will cease to exist. Do you want me to pull off the data book stats? I could save you the trouble and reveal that the number is 2.5.
When did I do that? I explicitly said that they are even. Read again. This time slowly, since changing the subject won’t do anything other than make you look bad. Itachi and Jiraiya have two completely different styles, and the way Jiraiya is crucial here, because it will be necessary against the top tier guys.
Lmao, don’t make me laugh. Naruto, the guy with the worst genjutsu defense in the world, almost broke it and got a compliment for Itachi. Inexperience was the only reason he didn’t break it, first time ever tried it, and Jiraiya would laugh it off. Can you please show me anywhere else he used that against suitable opposition or even entertained the idea. A databook description would also go a long way.
Btw, I mentioned several ways for Jiraiya to avoid genjutsu.
How so? Everything I mention is canon, I said that they could both beat each other and luck will be a big part of who will be victorious.
I like how you conveniently left out the page where Tobi stated that Itachi only got as far as the fail part. How is Itachi smart for not discovering Tobi’s secrets? He didn’t even know the true identity of Tobi even though he trained under him, served under him, even had long term deal with this man. Instead Tobi played him for a fool/tool and got to Sasuke with ease, Itachi’s precious brother, with ease.
Pain is also stronger than Pre-rinnegan Tobi, so Jiraiya’s quote will always mean more.
