He was overrated, his title not backed up in his fight sadly. He was no pushover but surely not as powerful as was said about him throughout the ninja world.

I think he was as powerful as he was said to be. He nearly beat pain by himself, with LITERALLY no knowledge of their abilities, AND while fighting on unfamiliar terrain. He chose to try to learn the truth about pain, instead of trying to continue fighting.

Naruto managed to beat the pains because he had the ninetails, and was given intel on pain. As well, as fighting on his home turf(though not really a advantage.....just he wasnt at a disadvantage like jman was)

To the OP. Im not sure if you could call his techniques op, but he certainly is the king of unusual techniques.

That's is an ability only Tsunade (sakura) can perform. Rememebr constructed the whole "medical ninja" aspect (if i remember correctly) .


Jman could have finished Pein (3) easily had he used Toad Mouth, which was used against Kisame and Itachi. They were in a tight tunnel, it would have worked IMO

I believe Jiraiya is the best pure ninjutsu user(no KKG or forbidden) Hype says Hiruzen is but all we get from him is shurikens lol. I don't think he is too underrated he is just forgotten about by people including by me, I always forget about him. top 20 for sure

The Shadow technique J-man used is one of my favorite moves in all of Naruto. Even though it's not the most effective 1-1, it's just damn awesome, he's a true ninja sneaking around the way he does. I mean, he infiltrated the Akatsuki's "leader's" village through a frog. Through. A. Frog. Who does that type of shit?

I used to hate Jiraiya but I've grown fond of the character, mostly for his unpredictable arsenal. Pein's one weakness: Toads. But to be fair, nobody could have anticipated someone infiltrating like that.

Man, I hear someone has a distaste for J-man like every time I get on NB these days Lol Never realize so many people weren't that fond of him. But his arsenal is great: He can turn his surroundings (probably indoor move) into a frog's stomach, huge ass swamps that he sunk giant snake(s?) with in a weakened state, massive oil bombs, can seal Amaterasu, etc. He's kinda just like your handy shinobi if you think about it. Nah, I don't blame Pain at all, and he did find out he had an intruder anyway. But using the frog was a great tactic on J-man's part, the guy was intelligent fool.

Edit: hmm, Now you got me wanting to make a Jiraiya wank thread in the future. Lol
