He needed his friends help in order to gang up on Indra as his only chance at defeating him,and this is the guy the sage left everything too.

It never mentioned that he used friends in the fight after them being told he was the Sage's successor or that he received a power up from his Dad. Asura is basically a cooler Naruto while Indra is a more butt hurt Sasuke.

Although, he had the Bijuu, did he not? I personally believe it's the same concept as it is now in the story. Naruto having the united shinobi fighting along side him to take down one person. (Obito/Madara) ut you can't deny he's a complete bad ass and is crazy strong. I believe it's the same concept ~
