Well, while he was still in there, he could have had had Ma and Pa prep their Toad Confrontation Chant - a sound-based genjutsu which he already used to solo three paths a few minutes earlier

The genjutsu takes a few minutes of prep time: so Ma and Pa could have begun singing and then harmonized their voices within the safety of the barrier. So when Jiraiya pops out of the barrier, boom! All six pains get solo'd at once.

If Jiraiya had known Pain was Yahiko, Jiraiya would of Talk no Jutsu'd Pain and made him leave the Akatsuki sooner. That's what Nagato was afraid of.[SUB]
