Jiraiya and Itachi Q's

So I know Itachi deep down is/was a good guy who did everything he could to protect Konoha. Thus his excuse for murdering the whole Uchiha clan because of the Coup de at.

But my question in regards to Jiraiya and Itachi.

Were they secretly working together?

I suspect so, Itachi was pretty much a spy within the Akatsuki. He was keeping an eye on them and IMO was somehow feeding information to someone outside, probs Jiraiya.

I agree, Itachi said it himself that he joined the Akatsuki to keep an eye on Mandra and the Akatsuki as well.

If Jiraiya working with Itachi, this would also make sense why he would teach him this. Jiraiya would have been fearful that Itachi could betray him. Not only was Jiraiya teaching Naruto to break Itachi genjutsu but also how to break Sasukes genjutsu

why would he betrays if they both are on the same side.itachi loves konoha.the only way he could betray if jiraiya intents to hurt sasuke
