Yeah, before you click the 'Home' or 'Forums' button or whatnot, I should mention that there's some Youtube videos hidden in all that text ;D

Well, I made a thread about comedians once before, but that one wasn't directed at comedians performing in any certain countries, this thread is.

Japan

That's the land I'll be focusing on for now, and let me say that I'm not that knowledgeable about what Japanese comedians exist, I only know of a few famous ones.

The picture at the top is depicting the famous 'Gaki no Tsukai' team, from left -> right: Tanaka Naoki, Endō Shōzō, Matsumoto Hitoshi, Hamada Masatoshi and Yamasaki Hōsei.

Some info about the group:
Gaki no Tsukai ya Arehende is a variety show hosted by the Downtown* duo, wherein there are some regular cast members.

Matsumoto and Hamada, the senior members of this group, also known as Downtown(after their show), have been partners in this business for about 30 years now and they won't be stopping just yet.
They do the traditional Manzai where Matsumoto acts the boke(funny man, says some crazy sh*t) and Hamada does the Tsukkomi(straight man, basically gives feedback on whatever Matsumoto has to say).
Whilst Hamada does play the Tsukkomi(btw he is a super S, just had to say itxd), Matsumoto does make some pretty damn sharp observations, which is most often overshadowed by his hilarious persona.

Yamasaki Hōsei is, to be precise, a regular cast member, but since he appears ever so often in their sketches, he could be considered co-hosting the show along with the two remaining members.

Cocorico: Tanaka Naoki and Endō Shōzō are a duo whom, as mentioned, co-hosts the show as well.

I won't be going into lengthy descriptions about all the Batsu games and so one they've done, I would be writing for the rest of the day! Instead you can just read about them on Wikipedia.

Here's some of their work, videos uploaded on Youtube:
There are subbed versions, but I'm a bit too lazy to find them ;D

English lesson with Downtown's Matsumoto as Miss Erotica(Hamada is a student) Be warned, there're some fake boobs in therexd

Silent Library(MTV made something similar a while back)
Or the famous English video of former GnT member Jimmy Onishi(yeah, that 'hosted by' is in the way, but meh.):

I won't be focusing as much on other comedians, but one I think deserves some recognition is Shimura Ken, an older generation comedian, he even made a Japanese version of a Mr. Bean sketch. Here is his attempting to teach English speaking students to speak it the Japanese wayxd

<- That's him(think he's a bit younger in the vid).

So, so, so, where am I going with this thread?? Yes, let me explain!
Firstly I want to introduce you who didn't know about the fact that Japan has its own comedians, to some of them~
Secondly, I want to talk about them! Have any of you ever seen Gaki no Tsukai before?! I love them! What about Shimura Ken??
Lastly I would like to ask if you know of any other good Japanese comedians, such as Hard Gay or someone who's crazy like him ;d

EDIT! Another question! I also want to know what you think of Japanese comedy! Is it something which you can easily relate to?
As for me, I think it can be difficult at times when some references are being made, about people you don't know ofxd
