J.R.R. Tolkien or G.R.R. Martin

Firs of all this is about writers/their works/movies/... so plese dont relocate this to TV/Movies or Library pretty plz ... and it'll probably get like 2 answers at least here i might get 3 XD

I have read a few forums concerninf G.R.R. Martin and his work A Song of Ice and Fire and found that people place him above Tolkien. While I agree and martins work does make a rather good read I just cant bring myself to even begin to compare him to Tolkien.

Tolkien has dedicated his life to work on his Masterpiece which I will call the History of Middle Earth. Its message is timeless and is the second most read book of the 20th century (well LoTR is not all his works. And than Sir Peter Jackson succeded in the the esentially impossible feat of an film adaption of a part of Tolkiens life work and one of the best movies ever were filmed. Tolkien was a professor and Don and Oxfor University and worked on his wok his whole life even after his death the finishing touches were added by his son.

Who do you think is better/deserves more (lets say) praise based on their work and their legacyes (movies, TV shows, influence, ...)?

I know right but I saw many ppl prefering G.R.R. work and i lost my faith in todays youth XD XD
