Since itachi lost his eye using izanami shouldn't sasuke lose his too? And if he doesnt what was the point of both of them looking at each others eyes? Did that activate anything?

The Uchiha bros were trapped in Tayuya's sound Genjutsu at that moment. And I assumed that they used their own visual genjutsus to escape from the sound genjutsu. And thats why they were staring at each other.

p.s. Some people think that Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Sasuke which would then give them lots of time inside Itachi's genjutsu dimension to come up with a strategy.
