What i'm saying is, he did not plan to use KA on himself in order to break out of Edo Tensei. OP is saying that he planned it which proves he was a genius; i'm saying, this does not prove he is a genius (which he is) because this was down to mere chance.

In case assume went bad?? At this point he already was bad, anyone could see that. He had KA and knew of its ability so he implanted in the person who chase after sasuke the most. This didn't require much intellect.

So stage two of itachi's plans failed.. And even THEN itachi forsaw that failing , and that's what the shishui's eye and ka was for.. If sasuke was still bent on destroying konha, he would get ka'd when he met with naruto...

I disagree with some of your points. Anyway its better to keep people like itachi out of the limelight or else he would soon be the victim of many hate threads, althlough ive seen a few about him xd.

Anyway apart from his battle intelligence, natural talent and planning feats what i like most about itachi is his out of battle intelligence. The guy is so knowledgeable its frighting from him knowing the weakness of edo tensei, a jutsu that has existed for many years going by the reaction of mu and madara and yet he knows its weakness to him knowing about the 3 legendary places to learn sm and not even surprised that kabuto had it.

Im more or less convinced that he knows tobi's true identity and has been playing the madara card all along

Dude the background wasn't needed, I was simply referring to KA being implanted as if that was so far fetched, which is wasn't. Any shinobi (that has sense) knows that a plane could go wrong, but not all have the ability to work around/avoid it if needed. Also, Danzo was black mailed?? Lol

Yes I agree. That is why itachi decided to stop the edo tensei because he knows the real madara is on the field.

So what? I was talking about Tobi and Itachi and saying Tobi is smarter than him, cuz he knew all about Itachis life, when Itachi knew nothing about him. All his plan failed. Amaterasu was a failure. Even KA was a failure, cuz he didn't planed he would have used it on himself.
Also there is a main difference between someone who meet another in few seconds, and someone who leave with another all his life and still not capable to see through him. Minato didn't even said it was Madara automatically. He thought that at first, but changed his mind after. When he met Naruto he said "the one with the mask". If he was sure about his identity, he would have told him at that time, that it's Madara. He never said it was Madara automatically.

Actually Minato never truly believed Tobi was Madara. He posed the question at first, but then quickly dismissed it a few moments later. After that he always called Tobi the masked man, not Madara.

Tobi identity remains unknown and can't be replied on anyone except Oro/Kabuto. However, I give Minato the edge as he had to think in the process of battling Tobi, while Itachi plans situations before hand.

The mainly difference between Itachi and Shikamaru is that:
- Itachi has much more power than him. That's why when he does something extra we think he is far more intelligent than Shikamaru, but when you see the technics Itachi use in his fights, and a poor kage mane we can clearly see the advantage one has to elaborate his strategies than the other.
- Itachi is an Uchiwa, and 90% of Naruto story is base on Uchiwas. That's why he knows everything about his clan, their secrets, etc..(for example, people could say that Izanami is wow, just cuz Itachi was talking about it, but when you see that there is a place where he could read all what he want, it's not that impressiv), when Shikamaru knows nothing about it. :noc:

It's funny you bring that up considering Itachi being overprotective is what caused him to get stabbed like that. Sasuke needed no protection considering the attack wasn't aimed towards him and he can also use susanoo.

Itachi was simply being overprotective hence the reason he said he was sorry to Sasuke.
