he def gave power to him he doesnt act without reason but from people saying different things and one the powers i thought would be was amateretsu and people correcting me saying it wil be the sword its highly unlikely he gave the sword as he used it on oro
''In Japanese mythology, the creature is a raven or a Jungle Crow called Yatagarasu (八咫烏), which is the bird of the sun goddess Amaterasu. The Yatagarasu appears in the Japanese ancient document called the Kojiki (古事記) where it was called upon to choke a beast attempting to devour the sun and as the protector to Emperor Jimmu. On many occasions, it appears in art as a three-legged bird, although there is no description stating that the Yatagarasu was three-legged in the Kojiki. The three-legged version of the Yatagarasu is used as the emblem of the Japan Football Association today.''

He means that he will attack Konoha with Amaterasu and no one but him will be able to put out the flames. Then Naruto's crow will activate and put out Amaterasu, ultimately saving Konoha.
This theory was found on one mang foruns and i tought it would be interesting so i posted here where all NB members can see it
Well, this is the entire thing, written by "Impulse" on Onemanga -

You guys really have to get used to not simply stealing the theories. That is wrong, I mean, it's plagiarism. You MUST ASK the people who originally wrote the theory, whether you may even post it! And you have to say where you have it from, at least.
The MODS should keep this under more control.
This is a theory on Itachi's gift for Naruto. I hope you enjoy reading.
There is another piece of mythology that I think should be considered when thinking of the crow that was sent down Naruto's throat. Obviously the crow wasn't randomly chosen, it is based on mythology. I want to offer an alternate theory to the one that WraithX959 presented on this forum with its foundation in the "Three Legged Crow."
The reason I prefer this theory to the theory on Kogarasu Maru is that Itachi's main association are crows and not swords. Important to know: Amaterasu means Sun Goddess.

日精摩尼手 (にっせいまにしゅ)
Nichirin (sun disc) with a black three-legged crow drawn inside. In Japan, Nikkō is also associated with a black three-legged crow-like bird. People with eye disease or poor eye sight in Japan can purchase talismans or icons called Nissei Manishu 日精摩尼手, which show the bird inside the sun disc. Making proper pleas and prayers to the icon is said to cure one's eye problems.
Why the three legs? Unknown. Perhaps because the sun brings light to darkness? Why the crow? Japan's love of wordplay provides a clue. A Japanese proverb says "You cannot see a crow in a pitch-black night (闇夜にカラス)." A similar Western proverb is: "It's not wise to herd black hogs on a moonless night."
The crow with three legs is also closely associated with Myōken, the deification of the Pole Star and Dipper constellation. Myōken is a major star deity at sacred Mt. Haguro, and possesses the power to cure eye diseases.
Says Maison Franco-Japonaise: The founder of Haguro Shugendo (at Dewa Sanzan) is Nojo Taishi, who is said to have come to Haguro early in the seventh century. He was given the title of Shoken Daibosatsu in the 19th century. Legend says he was the third son of the late sixth century emperor Sushun, and the cousin of the famous Shotoku Taishi. He is depicted as a strange being, dark of skin and with exaggerated facial features, his mouth extending from ear to ear. It was to a place called Akoya, in a narrow valley full of thick growth, with a waterfall at one end, that Nojo Taishi was guided by a mystical three-legged crow, and it was here that he first did ascetic training. Here also he found a statue of Kannon Bosatsu and it was from here that he founded the three mountains (Dewa Sanzan) as a Shugendo site.
Here is another picture. In the picture above, the Three Legged Crow is being flanked by a dragon and a phoenix, both symbols of power during the Koguryo period. As a matter of fact, this picture is authentic Koguryo art. In Korean mythology, Samjoko (the three legged bird) was highly regarded as a symbol of power. It was thought to be even superior to that of the dragon and the phoenix. Samjoko is thought to inhabit/represent the sun.
Naruto represents the dragon and Sasuke the phoenix. Dragons in mythology are always surrounded by clouds, like Naruto is in the manga (See Naruto vs. Pain fight) and Sasuke represents the phoenix, or Suzaku, the red bird. (See the Uchiha shrine)
I marked the interesting parts in the quote red. Here are some pictures that the manga captures this idea in:

This myth is twofold. One, it supports the theme of Gaara having the same eyes as Naruto. It is said that a threee legged crow talisman can cure eyesight. And Naruto definitely cured Gaara's which explains why Naruto has Gaara's eye in his palm.*
Also, don't forget the new Rasengan that Naruto developed at this time:

Did you notice the "orb" it makes, similar to the original glass orb. Itachi is inside it who symbolizes the crow.
*At the same time Itachi resembles the crows and he's the one with the "light issue," right?

The crow which devoured the sun... The crow sent down Naruto's throat could be the crow to block Amaterasu.
