It simply broke him out of Edo Tensei's control. KA's order was to "protect Konoha" and if Itachi was under KA the whole time he wouldn't have let Sasuke go, because Sasuke wanted to harm Konoha.

Technically your wrong.
Itachi already wanted to protect the village.
which he was doing by releasing edo tensei.

the question is when and how he broke it, I guess he used some kai release method off panel when he was traveling to kabuto's location or something, I cant say how but im sure he broke it when he was traveling on his way to kabuto.

He planned it before, how is he gonna get affected by it?

KA doesn't change what the target is going to do entirely.
Just What they do. Like If he tried to attack the village, It wouldn't let him.

He had the order to "Protect Konoha".

Letting a potential threat leave is not protecting Konoha; thus, KA was not in effect.

I agree.

Tell that to the trolls, they find any way to discredit what has happened to his character in the manga.

Itachi is given the freedom to do what is right based on the situation in order to protect the village. [ ] Itachi had left madara who was a threat to konoha to naruto & chose to deal with edo himself, if he was truly restricted to the command then he would've went after obito who is the priority no?

With that being said, Itachi did what he thought was right in order to protect the village. , itachi felt that he could possibly persuade (TnJ) sasuke into becoming an asset to the village instead of killing him. So all in all, no he didnt need to go after sasuke who was already being conflicted.

I agree.
Sasuke had no intentions to destroy the leaf right then in there.. he was actually helping them.

He was doing it because of Itachi?

People can't remember the manga that far back? He specifically told Kabuto and Itachi that he was gonna destroy the leaf (in his own way)

Well, that still makes no sense, as Sasuke was heading straight to the village and Itachi knew Naruto was nowhere near there... Meaning Sasuke could have totally destroyed Konoha had he wanted.

He totally did. Admittedly, he was conflicted, but the potential threat was still there.

It isn't that it didn't take effect, it is that it was immediately canceled out.

Kotoamatsukami casts an extremely powerful genjutsu on the person it is being cast on, but this genjutsu can seemingly be broken if the person knows they are in a genjustu. This is shown when Mifune is simply told that he was being controlled, and no longer followed Danzo's orders. Being a Genius and since Itachi planted the crow, he knew exactly what was going on was able to break the genjutsu after it was cast on him immediately. The order was only to protect Konoha, so Itachi would remember everything about the crow and that it was shisui's eye controlling him, and since he knows the genjutsu is controlling him it doesn't effect him.

And even if Sasuke would try and crush the leaf while Itachi was under KA than I believe Itachi would overcome it. Itachi loves his little brother too much to kill him, no matter the circumstances.

But he didnt, you don't get the restriction placed on this command, its very loose. As I said itachi would have gone after obito first who is a priority threat, not to mention that would keep itachi on the battlefield longer which is what the command fould force him to do (he can't protect the village if he's dead).

This proves that he has free will, he thought that sasuke would be persuaded with his parting words, he didnt want to go after sasuke because sasuke is his brother. Naruto said he would find a way to stop sasuke without killing him so it was simply itachi's trust.

He can choose to protect the village in any way he sees fit.

That's actually a good point.

So maybe KA isn't as powerful as we thought, if it can be worked around with a simple loophole?

Yes. Mifune broke KA once its presence was known to him. Therefore the same would have happened with Itachi.

Itachi was acting on his own accord the whole time after being Edo Tensei'd and never once showed anything out of character. It's just moronic to think otherwise

Well if the command is more specific then it would make sense, like "Assassinate the 3rd raikage" would have no loopholes, the one being trapped would have to kill the raikage.

& SharinganisOP made a very good point, so that's also a possibility.

Well... What if they thought the best course of action would be letting him die of old age?

But I understand, and yeah that makes sense.

He was under KA's influence, KA just happens to be a very open-ended Genjutsu that allows a high degree of autonomy so long as the target's core motivation is still to "protect Konoha." It's the same as how Naruto refused to kill Nagato or Sasuke; he never placed them before the village or stopped protecting Konoha, he just protected Konoha in his own way. Likewise, Itachi firmly believed Sasuke could be redeemed and become an asset to Konoha. He trusted Naruto.

Your interpretation of what it means to "protect Konoha" is simply too narrow. Your reasoning is like Danzou's.
