Then evil is subjective or there isn't such a thing as evil. Through Danzo's eyes, he was a great hero and would consider not killing one person to save others an act of evil.

itachi didn't hear god's voive to kill his clan.. he was given a choice.. have him, his brother, and his clan all killed...or help murder his clan so that his little brother's life would be spared..
its not even an issue about being evil or not.. just tough choice and he made the one where his brother would be left alive.. and the only reason he tortured his brother was so that he could make it his goal to become strong and kill itachi, thus in a way restoring the clans' honor or whatever..
when you grow up, you'll know a little more about making hard choices U_U
We, reading the manga can judge from a more objective standpoint, from that standpoint i would say both sasuke and danzu where evil. In fact the whole ninja system is evil sending thirteen year old kids on assassin missions, but the village thinks its necessary, but that doesn't make it less evil.
and dont talk to me about growing up or making hard choices, i mean most humbly to tell you that you dont know anything about me or what life I've had. plz dont attack me personally.

itachi loved his brother more than his clan and the village.. he made his life sh*t so that his brother could live.. don't see how that is evil at all when he pretty much had no other choice..

So let me put it this way: If we were to ask Kishimoto if Itachi was good or evil at this point in the manga, do you think he would say the latter? It seems that he would have the strongest ties to the manga's key principles. I personally think Kishimoto would either label him a hero or a stance below that (considering his actions in the massacre), looking at the praise some Naruto characters give Itachi.
Honestly when this topic is brought up, it's usually about people saying that Kishimoto is wrong and that he is feeding people the wrong ideas. So I've never really faced an argument where Itachi is evil from the manga's perspective.
im my pov Itachi never redeemed himself. people will say he dud what he had to to save his brother, for me atleast when reading the manga i just dont feel like its an acceptable excuse to execute countless of other children and innocent just to save your brother, he is ?decepted/seen? as an evil character from the mangas point of view and even when we learn the truth i still think he is ?depicted? that way. im talking about when you try to analyze the situation and the reasons he still seems like a person who, as other people said, had to make a hard choice, but in my perspective he choose an evil one, from his perspective it was a good decision, but i think if you try to look at it objectivity after reading the manga it just still seems wrong.

Itachi being a good guy is one of the most blatant ass pulls ever. Honestly if Kishi keep Itachi the way he was then he'd be striaght but I bet Kishi doesn't even answer to half of his Itachi plot holes.
They weren't hard desicions in the least. Nobody forced him to make his life shit he could've prevention deaths in more ways than 1. Also he should've just have killed Sasuke because Death is better than a lifetime of torture and dehumanization.

He's still a good guy, i mean yeah he ended up screwing over Sasuke and through him a lot of other people, but he had good intentions. Even if Itachi ran away with Sasuke, Danzo would have had the Anbu slaughter the Uchiha, but then Sasuke would hate the leaf village just as much. Itachi wanted to save the village and thought it would be better for Sasuke to want revenge on him rather than on the whole village. It just didn't go quite as well as planned when Sasuke learned the truth.

they weren't hard decisions?? :flaw: "die with all your clan OR, kill them all and the one person you love most can live" how is that not a hard choice?? and you're right that maybe there could have been a way but danzo and the elders gave him no time for that did they..
was it f*cked up the life he made his brother live just so he can become strong and avenge his clan? yes, but did he do it just to be a ****? no..
