It's just a story, Itachi's character clearly had peaceful intentions and love for his brother, but people who were molested as children can'y look past the scenes of 7 year old Sasuke in Tsukuyomi, learn to read fiction, and while you are at it, learn to seperate ficion from reality.

Oh, boy. I can't wait until -Logic- arrives. Anyways, I still like Itachi. He had the best intentions when everything started out. However, I agree that torturing Sasuke wasn't exactly the best way. But people make mistakes. It's not like Itachi enjoyed doing those things to his brother and family. He even admitted that he failed.

he failed because he chose the most brutal and evil way of doing things. its only after dying that he thought "gee maybe it wasnt a good idea to tell sasuke to murder people and savagely mindrape him into a fukin coma"

well what i'm saying is that itachi is a wanted criminal in the leaf so why/who would he go back to give intel to the village that wants him dead??

doesnt have to be konoha he gives the intel to. what about kirigakure or kumo? what about jiraiya? and if they dont believe him just have a yamanaka check his mind. theyd learn the truth but since its anbu they wouldnt betray it.

^ no. not until he goes back in time and stops this war he indirectly caused and kills sauske when he had the chance. i mean he can kill mikoto, a suspected traitor, in a heartbeat but when sasuke goes actual traitor and tries to kill naruto, hes a great guy and a loving bro? when hes a horrible son to begin with?

itachi did everything for his home and brother because they were his home and brother. supremely selfish IMO. because he didnt go out of his way to protect individual comrades, or make his brother live a good life, or protect other villages. his obsession with getting killed by his brothers hand is also selfish since he wanted to be judged for his crimes and put out of his misery rather than facing death like a man.
he consistently murdered or tried to murder comrades and jinchurikis, tortured children, tried to brainwash and enslave sasuke, abandoned anko to torment and possible death. this sounds like a nice guy to you?

you dont have to act for yourself to be considered selfish. its equally selfish to want to keep people around because they are your family, no matter how many other innocent civlians have to die as a result of wanting your family stronger. itachi apathetically and coldly treated konoha citizens with contempt and tortured at least 3 of them. he abandoned the mist village to tyranny, genocide and murder. he abandoned the jinchurikis and helped with their slow painful deaths
