Sasuke effortlessly controlled Manda with his 3T. Personally I don't see a difference between a massive summon and a Bijuu besides chakra quantities which in no way affects the ability to disrupt Genjutsu, otherwise Naruto would be the king of genjutsu disruption, which we know is certainly not true.

Im on my phone so no scans but jiraiya explained that when ur under genjutsu ur opponent controls the flow of chakra through ur brain, bigger brain mass/kyuubi needs more chakra to control.

If all you're concerned with is size, then you have to remember Sasuke manipulated Manda, a bijuu sized summon, with genjutsu all after he had so little chakra remaining that he couldn't even keep his sharingan active any longer.

Because the OP was specifically asking about Itachi's ability to control the Kyuubi with his MS.
Itachi low diff.
Genjutsu > Win.
Totsuka > Sealed forever.
One of these will do just fine, match would be over in a second. And Itachi's great reaction time together with his fast use of Clones would make it pretty much impossible for Kyuubi to land a hit since he is very slow and a huge target without a Jinchuuriki. And Yata Mirror would block any attack if something would go wrong.
Even Sasuke would easily win via genjutsu.

A tailed beast without a human is drastically weaker, Itachi only needs to cast him under genjutsu.
