And why wouldn't you be able to absorb Yata? It runs on chakra, so if the whole Yata can't be absorbed, at least its functionality can.

The main threats that Itachi can pose to Pēin are his Illusion Techniques [Genjutsu] including Tsukuyomi, as well as Amaterasu and Susano'o. Pēin has multiple Rin'negan thus allowing him to absorb Susano'o/Amaterasu via Gakidō and if too much of a threat, Tendō shall suffice.

Nagato has a counter to Tsukuyomi/Genjutsu. Primary: It shan't work as Pēin is a collection of corpses that lack a living brain to have effect upon. If, somehow the Pēin is casted under a illusion, Nagato can simply quickly halt the chakura being sent to that particular Pēin. Subsequent to such, he shall send chakura back to the Pēin thus cancelling the Tsukuyomi/Genjutsu.

Tendō destroys Itachi's ability to utilize his prodigious Shurikenjutsu as well as Taijutsu. Itachi has limited counters to Chibaku Tensei and those that he does, requires a great deal of chakura thus diminishing his already poor chakura reserves. Once Itachi goes close quarter combat [mandatory after a large percentage of his chakura reserves have been destroyed] Ningendō can defeat Itachi via "Soul Pulling".

I never said anything like that. I only said that I don't believe in magic in the Narutoverse. You just quoted the legends about the Yata and Totsuka. Once again, I won't believe its magic just because of legends.

6 Paths would be the favorite to win. However, Itachi definitely has his chances. He could activate a small portion of Susano'o and a majority of the opponents' attacks are reduced to pesky strikes. Sure, Pein could use the shinrei that destroyed the village, but he'd be sacrificing the other paths in the process. Not to mention their dead bodies would get blown to god who knows where. While Itachi does have means of surviving it via susano'o, and Pein would have to a while before he could use it again. Same with CT, it appears to be an attack on the same level of Shinrei Tensei if not greater, so he'd be sacrificing his teammates using that as well. Promixity is another factor, if Itachi isn't that far away from him when he attempts to use CT, then Itachi could either totsuka him or amaterasu him.


All in all, there are a lot of factors to consider. Itachi does have his chances.
