i guess u people cant know until they fight each other which isnt possible becoz itachi's susanoo is invincible unlike sasuke as it had yata mirror which deflects every attack..so rasengen cant effect it...but minato had ftg so itachi also cant beat him wid his plain ms...the r like regrettable opponents from each other...just stop acting like fan boys...

i like itachie more than the 4th but i have to say the 4th would win this one, all he needs to do is touch itachie once and he can tele port to him and plus the 4th can use a space time barrier jutsu on sasunoo like he did the nine tails, so yeah im sorry but the 4th has this

people always think these threads are about who's stronger, but its really not. one ninja can be much stronger than another, and still lose to him because his skills are a bad match for the weaker one's skills.
minato and itachi have around the same strength, in fact i think itachi is stronger. but minato's specific skills are a good counter for itachi's.

I think in this particular match it will become on who's is the smartest and most brilliant ninja to use their options in the best way, i voted Itachi i think he will beat minato speed with just intelligence, minato was clever too, but IMO itachi is a genius.

Itachi knew that Tobi could make use of sasuke and make him go against konoha by revealing the truth, thats why he placed a hidden power in Naruto. Planned everything sorry.

Well as my username suggests those are my two favorite characters. This is a tough one, Minato obviously has the speed but Itachi has a defense which only has one weakness, the amount of chakra he has. Really they are both untouchable with FTG and Itachi's Susanoo weapons.
The way I see it, Minato would win if he managed to tag Itachi with an FTG seal before Itachi put up Susanoo, because with the Yata mirror and the Totsuka sword his Susanoo is literally invincible. There is no attack in the Naruto universe that can beat it, unless Minato can teleport inside of Susanoo if he tags Itachi. However if that doesn't happen then I don't think either one would win. Itachi is amazing and great but Minato is too fast, he obviously wouldn't be able to hit him with amaterasu the Totsuka sword. Itachi's only chance is if he manages to look Minato in the eyes, then Tsukuyomi has him.
I'm not going to vote because this fight could go either way, each of them have only one real way to get guaranteed win and both of those things hinge on the other person not starting off serious.
Also I think Itachi shouldn't have left the village but instead become the fifth hokage. No one is as dope as him except Minato.

Well, Itachi only achieved Mangekyō Sharingan in one eye unlike Sasuke so he will not have Susanoo. He can only do Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi with the Sharingan.

...wait you are for real. Itachi had mastered MS and had it in both eyes and had the complete form of Susanoo, his was more powerful than Sasuke's plus Itachi had the Yata mirror and the Totsuka sword. Please read the manga and check your "facts" before you post. It saves everyone time and trouble.

from facts heard tht ninja's like minato come once in a life tym... but i also heard tht itachi was one of a kind... so unless it happens u can never know who will win.....

By beating Madara[with ETERNAL MANGEKYOU SHARINGAN], Minato moved over and above Itachi. If he can handle and wound Madara, Minato wouldn't even waste time on Itachi, because he'd be beat. And FTG, is as epic as they come really, it's even faster than the Raikage, and we saw that the Raikage was faster than amaterasu and evaded Susano'o. Yes Itachi is a geniu, but Minato is a PRODIGY! Sharingan or not, Itachi would get his ass kicked. Also he'd be too fast to catch in Genjutsu and with a technique like the FTG, that requires precise chakra control, breaking out of genjutsu would be an easy task for a Hokage, especially one that was said to be a prodigy....
