he dint do it for the village he did it bcuz danzo said if he accepted the mission he can save his brother HIS YOUNGER BROTHER! it wasnt easy on itachi but what big brother wouldnt want to protect his younger brother! killing his parents was the ultimate prize but his dad knew what he was going thru,... itachi even came to check out the village after the war with he sound village!!! believe it or not fact states itachi was always on the good side!!!!!!

Simply cuz if he didn't then a whole war was gonna happen and itachi has tried war before and knows how aweful it is so he didn't want it to happen again.conclusion:having the uchiha clan dead except his little brother better than having the uchiha clan dead including his brother and including maybe a hundreds of people (from konoha....) and maybe even himself.

Just for the fact that you refuse stubbornly and ignorantly , That : A Whole Village > a clan
It just shows how much of a child you are , Itachi made the RIGHT Decision , no matter how you look at it , It just shows how Mature he was at a young age ..
Itachi made The Ultimate Sacrifice for the undoubtable Greater Good ..not only did he save his whole village , but he accepted to be called a Traitor ..to save his clan's reputation and to make them look like Victims , when they where planning a riot in the first place ..

His clan members still would have died in their coup against the leaf. Many other lives in the leaf would have been lost as well and it could have been invaded by other villages. He chose the lesser evil.
hmm since we are dealing with little kids that their brain can not process or undertand what happend.
it would be wise to explain them what a civil war is or a world war, millions of innocent dying since. honestly thats what they need..
They believe in very fictional heroes that with words, they will change the world against those who doesnt give a danm about words.
or the hero that always save the day.
Maybe the heroes that all the hard choice they have to do is, defeat the bad guy without taking any hard choice other than defeat the guy and everything going smooth.\
Like what naruto gona do, defeat tobi and the world will have peace and things are going to be nice.. lol grow up.

Then it ends in war and maybe everyone from the leaf die.
Be the traitor that kill the clan +family, saving your little brother,
Or die with your clan clan and the whole village in war.
But one thing im thinking about,
Why the senju gave the uchiha none of politic power ?

If Itachi didn't kill his clan, the entire Land of Fire would have been in war and other nations would take that chance to attack, Shisui said that himself to Itachi.
Itachi wiped out the clan to prevent the war era, remember he's a pacifist.

Ugh... here we go again...
If Itachi did not kill his clan, it would have caused a civil war. This civil war would have killed the ENTIRE clan. Including Sasuke. If Itachi did not make the decision he did, the Village would have suffered, and his clan would have suffered. That's a double whammy. See what I'm getting at?

i understand why itachi did it but at the same time i dont blame him i blame the senju clan they are a piece of crap for 1 isolating the uchiha clan and limiting their power by setting up fake ass police departments. I mean if you fear them so much they why sign a treaty and form the leaf village.Notice no uchiha has every been elected as an hokage or advisory.That is what cause the uchiha to rebel not because they were bad people but they wanted to be equal with all the villagers.
they were pute in segregation for one reason, the people of konoha, im guessing mainly sarutobi the elders, had reason to beleive that the uchiha wanted to overthrow them planning a attack, they were put in segeragation and lied to simply to be watched easier, they were told you willl be the police force, tho the uchiha arent dumb and took it as more disrespect, itachi was the double spy he told the elders what the uchiha had planned, if the uchiha didnt have shit planned, they woudnt have been sepereated.
