You have to make hard decisions. That's life.
A. Side with Uchiha clan and be wiped out anyway by Konoha or other Villages.

I think you need to look at it from a bigger perspective. Itachi grew up at a time where he saw much death because of war. Itachi was a peaceful guy who, if he could avoid it, did not like to fight. He knew that the Uchiha where going to disrupt the peace in the village and were going to revolt. That revolt would have resulted in mass casualties, and another great ninja war. Itachi had to choose between going to another war because of his clans unhappiness, or prevent the war and, by his own hands, kill his clan to prevent the war. You think it didn't hurt Itachi? You think everyday he didn't think about killing his own parents, hurting his brother, and being known as the traitor of the hidden leaf? It killed him inside. You saw him crying as he killed them. It was the hardest thing for him to do. I may not be a Itachi Fanboy but I cant help but feel for the guy. He did what no one else could do, for the cost of peace.

Killing your loved ones for the greater good takes messianic strength and willpower. If he was truly a coward he would've ran away from the situation all together and go hide somewhere.

family is most important thing, you cant choose a village of strangers who dont even know you, over ur family, remember itachi was an anbu so no one saw his face and anyone outside of uchiha hardly knew him, since he worked in secrecy!

Your country or your family that's the question. In a shinobi world and in most cultures it is always more idealistic to put country ( interest of masses) ahead of personal interests. What Uchiha were doing is classified as a political crime and their anhilation was a political decision as well.

Sometimes you need to use violence to solve problems. Sometimes just talking will not succeed. And Itachi and Danzo were in a race against time in stopping the Uchiha, they didn't know when they were going to strike.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but we live in a fu*ked up world. Do you think you could stop the Nazi party from starting WWII and the Holocaust with words? Or Osama bin Laden from destroying the World Trade Center with words? Or Joseph Stalin from sending people to work camps with words?
When you have enough supporters for a full on rebellion you can't stop their emotions and what they perceive as "justified" with words.
Itachi killed the young and old so that the Uchiha name wouldn't be dragged through the mud and people would not hate them anymore then they already did. He took all the blame, Konoha hates Itachi and think of the Uchiha clan as saddening and unfortunate. If the innocents survived and word got out Uchiha were planning a rebellion, they would be miserable and despised. Killing them was a kindness. And word would get out People would ask questions as to why Itachi ONLY killed the Uchiha higher-ups, then remember how bad the Uchiha had it, then they would put 2 and 2 together.
All innocents would have been hated and disrespected until the day they died anyway. Killing them was a kindness.
I put reason into my thoughts and I look at the bigger picture, so I guess I'm not better than these "clowns".
Please think, if Itachi hadn't done what he did then the world would be plunged in war and Konoha would be wiped from the map. Millions would have died, but because of Itachi's selfless actions, at the most 50-90 died.

U do realize that itachi not only did this for konoha, he did it for Sasuke.
He had two choice: fight with the uchiha and die with his family. Or end his clan's ambition for power with his own hands an at the very least save his beloved brother along with the pride of the uchiha. His choice was a selfless sacrifice. U make it seem like he turned on the uchiha an lived a happy life as a hero with endless bliss. Do u know why his father said I'm proud of u, because he chose his own path. a path that wasn't a selfish attainment for power, fusaku tried to use his son for his own selfish ambition, even then it took itachi everything to slay his parents, but even then chose to stain his hands with blood of his kinsman an live a life of shame FOR Sasuke the ONLY one that he could have saved.
