Before i get flamed incessantly for the title hear me out. everything itachi has ever wanted just falls to ruin. initially he doesnt want to choose between the village and his clan. too bad. later he wants sasuke to defeat him and become the hero who restored the uchiha clan. sasuke instead turns evil and tries to kill the village itachi died to protect. then itachi says he does not want to meet sasuke after his rebirth. oops. so basically if Itachi says he doesnt want something to happen, thats Kishi's way of telling us its gonna happen. (and btw no hate on itachi i think hes awesome i just feel bad for the poor dude.)

sasuke didnt act the way itachi intended because itachi failed at making sasuke stronger. he taught him revenge is the only way to get more powerful and so of course sasuke didnt follow itachis path because itachi messed sasuke up

its partially true, he did fail. How could he think that torturing his brother and making him hate him would make him magically return/stay in leaf village...?

i have to agree somewhat all he has been doing is failing
1. killing off his clan horrible idea. their were other better choices
2,killing off the non sharigan users and children and elderly
3.telling his brother to have more hatred and get more veagance in him but he doesnt want sasuke to take revenge out on his village such a fail.
4. if that doesnt work out he users a eye that puts him in a ever lasting genjutsu
5. they say he was a spy for the village but yet he just sat around watching the rest takin away the bijuu from the jinkuriki. itachi could had easily take down each akastuki member 1 by 1 except for pain and tobi maybe
6. but the last important factor in all of this is kishi! hes the biggest troll ever itachi should had stayed a bad guy but kishi disgraced him i honestly think the good guy role aint itachi thing but hes getting better at it
