Nah, the gorgeous direction and imagery stole the show. It was cool how they focused on Itachi's line though, v. relevant.

LMAO. no

he just happen to be relevant enough to outshine the irrelevant konoha 11 members.

Okay so that's officially what we call a war.

He is literally more important than 1 or 2 of the 4 'main characters'. He is involved with every major plotpoint, his arc has everything to with the series as a whole, has his own arc (more than Sakura got) and has more developed relationships with Kakashi and Naruto than most. Itachi is only important due to secondary relationships to protagonists and a Uchiha/Danzo sub-plot whilst Shikamaru was always #1 outside of Team 7 since Chunnin Exams.

Wonder how awkward it is between him and Sasuke lol. He's like yea sorry I ran away and you all nearly died for me xD

They've never really gotten along, Shika risked his life for him out of principle than personal connection- which is kinda respectable IMO. In the novel Shikamaru calls him 'pig-headed' lol

LMAO. hell no

Itachi is consistently relevant. maybe if you weren't so obviously keyboard triggered by the sight of itachi's name as usual you'd not had overlooked that underline :lol. itachi has been relevant to the story even before his initial debut from haku to chuunin exam arc through the words of sasuke's even orochimaru's. itachi appears post hiruzen death and influenced sasuke to leave the village and made naruto/jiraiya search for tsunade to cure sasuke and kakashi from the tsukuyomi. in shippuden, itachi is main force behind the early-mid of the series to the point that both team orochi, team hebi and team konoha 11 are searching JUST for itachi. then when itachi dies, after sealing the major villain of part 1 (orochimaru) his backstory is not only the primary drive for sasuke's development into darkness but completely unlocks the corruption/the dark side of konoha and it's leaders via danzo. as tobi (obito) even said in his own words that even in death, that itachi still impresses him.

Bring up war arc? you're not going to tell me 1 fight with shika against the juubi somehow makes him this super relevant side character. no lol, he was no more relevant than war arc ino (who used her mental power to allow the shinobi alliance to deal with the juubi's bijuu bomb) and you think this guy @shika is more relevant than someone who not only broke edo tensei control, but saved two perfect jinks and sealed nagato, then chased after kabuto to undo the main problematic issue of the war arc = edo tensei? then even in the last few secs before he was released, he reveals sasuke the truth from his eyes, which ultimately allowed sasuke to search for the edo hokages to find out the origin of ninja/ konoha? lmao. what itachi did in that arc was literally main character tier relevance.

lmao @start a war and relevant than 2 out of the 4 main characters.

you lost before it even began, don't ever bring up someone(shika) who was ignored the moment sasuke showed up.

Meanwhile itachi is still the pivotal point all the way to VOTE2.

Just because he was mentioned at the end doesn't make a sub-plot less of a sub-plot. Sakura, Kakashi and Itachi didn't get their own focus or arc. Shikamaru is also better developed by Kishi than those characters I just mentioned. Better character? Subjective. Better developed? No chance.

Yo, this weren't brought up bc of Itachi, it came from dismissing Shikamaru Nara which just can't get a pass. Only Uchiha fans seem to disregard 'the K11' but I think even you realise than bundling Shika in with them isn't fitting right?

He's better & more integral because he was given time and manga space to flourish like Naruto and other Uchiha characters. The lazy kid having to apply himself to sudden responsibility to failing his first mission to becoming a well-rounded man like his father. He loses a sensei, maturely undergoes the revenge theme of the story, learns it's futility, helps Naruto when he loses his, more responsibility with Kurenai's kid & the village, forced to get more closure by sealing his sensei, loses a father and has to deal with that, is on the brink of death (and yes this is til the end of the manga also not just in 2 patches of Shippuden if you must use the unrelated Itachi comparison) Beyond that Shikamaru Hiden tells the rest from him growing into maturity and adult relationships. The laziest guy not only is tasked with 'what a drag' love interest (which is also a mature asf irl relationship), along with making his father proud, raising Shikadai, leading Naruto to the Hokage seat and train Mirai. All from the lazy brat he used to be.

It's not that he has loads of things to do but more how he grows to love his responsibilities also. That's more development, panel time and relevant exposure to make anyone a main character. He's the most important side character. Don't matter whether you like Itachi, Shikamaru or whoever- a sub-plot is a sub-plot and Sasuke, Shikamaru and Madara have all taken center stage. Also that GIF was a joke lol.

even if that were truth, it has nothing to do with the topic. = relevance.

No one "dismissed" shika's relevance. I said itachi was the only consistently relevant side character.
@obito. you would've been better off saying obito than shika, atleast you'd be in the ball park.

shika is just more relatable, that is all. he's a down to earth character hence why you believe he is one of the best developed characters. but reality is he isn't. sasuke, itachi, naruto, even kakashi had more development.

well-rounded man like his father. Smh 1. that's not relevance, that arc was development for himself. itachi's arcs (whether directly or indirectly) effects the NV to a much grander lvl which happens to tie in several main protagonist and villains. and 2. how is that any different than itachi and sasuke's, hell even kakashi and nagato's story?

(and yes this is til the end of the manga also not just in 2 patches of Shippuden if you must use the unrelated Itachi comparison) Beyond that Shikamaru Hiden tells the rest from him growing into maturity and adult relationships. lmao. and again, how is that more depth than itachi, sasuke, kakashi, naruto and nagato's story? lol. If you want to valid date shika's development, sure. i''ll agree. personally I prefer his arc over pain evasion arc. but i'm not going to overrate it to the point that he one of the most relevant side characters in the series. his arc didn't even really effect the NV, it was mostly a personal thing. while naruto himself took out kakuzu. meanwhile, itachi vs sasuke arc, effects not from just a personal lvl but greatly effected outcomes to come post arc. via: leaf village, sasuke joining akatsuki via: started the gokage summit meeting thus officially started the war arc. granted, I must give tobi the credit for most of this. but still, indirectly wise, itachi still dominates shikamaru, that's how much an impact he has in this NV
