I am fairly sure this didn't answer the question.
50/50 - Itachi's Genjustu is unmatched commonly overlooked. Minato is strong but honnestly I think he is a little overrated. If Kishi wrote him in a couple more times maybe he would be stronger than I believe him to be...
It's as close to an answer as anybody will get with manga implication. In Orochimaru's opinion, Minato wasn't enough to safely defeat Itachi. Then again, neither was Hashirama or Tobirama, and as such, it is likely that it has more to do with Itachi's counter to Edo Tensei.
Minato doesn't know about tsukyomi, he gets tsukyomi
and don't come with the he was hokage and genius so he would know bs , when oro is much older than him, a genius and was one of the choices for fourth, yet still looked into his eyes

no one said it was bloodlust. meaning itachi wouldnt use his trump cards right off the bat. minato would.
hes the hokage. hed know better than to think uchihas have no strong genjutsu. unlike orochimaru, minato's very observant and a once in a generation genius. oro's genius lied in experimentation, not battle.
lmaooo ^ Firstly being an uchiha doesn't mean you're a genjutsu expert.... dont talk bs... uchiha were not a genjutsu clan specifically.... there eyes could simply cast genjutsu via eye contact, that doesn't mean they all could use it, since according to jiraya its very rare and requires very high intelligence...

You come telling me what? some silly theory based on conjecutre that minato will somehow magically know not to look into sharingan when geniuses (kakashi,orochimaru) and normal jounins(asuma kurena, gaara(kazekage), (raikage A) etc who all were around in the times of the uchiha clan all looked into itachi / sasuke's eyes.... and the people who didn't aka oonoki, chiyo and gai , all fought genjutsu using uchihas before...
you seem to think that just because the uchiha has genjutsu the ninja would inconvenience themselves and look at their feet... no MOST ninjas can't fight like that unless they trained... which is why oro, asuma etc all looked into itachi's eyes even though they KNEW and oro especially who was his akatsuki partner , knew that he was a genjutsu master

I would have to give the edge to Itachi hands down....but of course it won't be easy..Minato should not be underestimated...but in the end itachi will win due to the fact that Minato can't look at him without getting caught in a genjutsu, and seeing he can only watch itachi's feet will be difficult to counter...if not that then Itachi's long range fatal attacks puts the icing on the cake..Itachi is just as powerful defensively as he is offensively...Doesnt anyone know..if you are going on head on with a sharigan user as in 1 vs 1...run because your chances of winning drop 40%. Seeing that Itachi has the Mangekyo, I say Minato's chance of winning will drop 65%.
