Yet because he regrets his actions and is smart and strong he gets away with it?

But he didnt need to kill EVERYONE for the greater good, and you cant just be a hero because people call you a hero, people probably called Hitler a hero.

He was probably stronger then alot of them. And he was dying of disease so instead of trying to make Sasuke a hero he could have just like killed Obito.

Anyway, OP, Itachi is considered a hero by people like danzo but not the leaf village at large or the ninja world. He is on the bounty list and is hated. Even Sasuke does not acknowledge him as a hero and wanted revenge on Leaf before that hashirama talk no jutsu
