So what if Itachi was lying about not possessing a sensing ability? Wouldn't Sage sensing explain how he was the only individual to sense Tobi's presence when he was younger? This way he could power Sasuke up further.

He did seem to know about Kabuto's Sage Mode and said that Kabuto reminded of himself when he was younger. And he has those lines on his face for Sage pigmentation. He's been a perfect Sage since he was 4 years old?
