Hey I'm kind of new on here. Sorry man for all the people insulting you but you know it was coming. to answer the simple question, yes itachi is overhyped. He deserves to be overhyped but not to the extremes that some Uchiha fans are doing. he beat powerful people in his style of character. in the manga he is portrayed as the silent but deadly character. though he does not have the rinnengon, he is still considered on nagatos level. Not saying he's stronger but when he was brought back as an edo, he was paired with nagato for a reaaon, they were his kings and Madara was his ace. Jiraiya I would say is onthe same level as nagato and itachi but I dont think he can beat them. itachi is capable of beating sasuke and sasuke is one of the main characters. people think sasuke is weak but he's not. He will have equal development as naruto in the end.

idk whos stronger just because they never really fought but the point of the matter is that, whether or not itachi confronted him or fought like a ninja, the fact remains that itachi won, thats how kishi intended it to b and if nagato really did outclass itachi by that much im pretty sure iachi would have had a harder time defeating him but the way kishi wrote it it looked pretty easy for itachi.

Even Ten Ten could beat Nagato with sneak attacks seriously and anyone with a sealing technique could beat Nagato if it was in that situation

Tobi didn't use them as a tool, he actually quite respected their sacrifices for the moon eye plan. I can't remember the chapter but he said to zetsu "Deidera, Sasori, Kakuzu, Hidan (etc etc)" It's because of all their sacrifices we've achieved so much, their sacrifices didn't go to waste" something like dat.

More importantly Itachi is the most plothole infused character ever. Kishi did a poor job defining Itachi's personality and abilities.

According to the Manga:
Itachi's Yata Mirror can repel any attack. Really Kishi? Any attack?
Itachi's Sword of Totsuka is basically a one hit kill.
These two alone are said to make Itachi essentially invincible. Really Kishi?

Amaterasu: the flame that devours flames.
