Itachi had the potential to awaken Rinnegan

If he had taken Sasukes eyes (he easily could have) i think he would have awakened the Rinnegan not long after.
I base this on the fact that of all the Uchiha his Normal Susanoo is the most OP and he had amazing controll over his chakra/eyes/genjutsu. I refer to what he did against Nagato and Kabuto, he wields his MS with perfection.
And he was at Hokage level in intelligence as a kid.

With only MS he was at a level of a Rinnegan user. Thats incredible. Imagine him with Rinnegan, he would be unstoppable.

I want to believe that he was, but Nagato just has too much in his arsenal. And Itachi has stamina problems. Itachi definitely could have beaten Nagato with just MS, but he would have to find a way to land Totsuka. At best it would be 40-60 in favor of Nagato (and that's extremely generous)

Tsukyomi soloes Nagato no diff. All he needs is one finger. The only ones that can break Tsuyomi are powerful enough Uchiha with sharigan. #mangafact
