Itachi has made a greaterest impact on the war so out of anyone else. Since edo tensei was the only thing keeping this war going, Apart from Fodder zetsu clones.
Plus he has helped naruto/bee (the last two jinchuuriki), Who would have been defeated if he hadn't stopped edo tensei, Thus stopping tobi getting his hands on the last two biiju and reviving the juubi at full strength. Or he has atleast stalled Tobi.

Itachi may have failed in stopping Madara, but he has succeeded in stopping Kabuto + the other Edo tensei.
Since kabuto is easily one of the biggest threats in this war i think itachi has done pretty damn well.

He didn't fail as such with regards to Edo Tensei. He did his part and just had to hope for the best, and he did save many lives by removing Muu et al from the equation. There was nothing he could've done about Madara. So it depends how you want to look at it. But just know, there was literally nothing he could've done to stop Madara. Thus far, he has failed with Sasuke but that may change if Sasuke becomes good. Kishi has made him look like a failure when it comes to Orochimaru though. But again, his intention was to remove the CM from Sasuke. Sealing Orochimaru was just a by product of that. So again, it depends on how you want to look at things.

Itachi's main purpose was always to protect Sasuke. So, untill anything else will happen to Sasuke, he did not fail.
And well, if he wouldn't have 'failed' at stopping Edo Tensei, how could we even get to see such an amazing twist of the story.
It's a good plot so just leave it as it is.

Well you do make some good points but Itachi still failed in some aspects. He wanted to kill Tobi with amatersu so that he wouldn't tell sasuke about the real truth of the Uchiha clan. But that plan failed. Itachi planned on getting rid of orochimaru so he could save sasuke from orochimaru's plans but that also failed since it was revealed in this chapter that he is stilla live.

Madara said he was going to get the kyuubi. Do you think Naruto stands a chance against him now.

Lol if only there were fanboys like you that use logic.

Itach tried to get rid Orochimaru at the same time so that his influence won't get to sasuke.

It was never Itachi's intention or job to get rid of Orochimaru for good.

All Itachi cared about was getting Oro and his influence out of Sasuke; which he did in their fight foreveer ago. Since then Sasuke was free of Oro and the curse seal. job accomplished

Also, Itachi did accomplish what he set out to do which was get rid of edo to protect Konoha best he could. It was never JUST to get rid of Madara. Madara is a huge threat but not the biggest. Tobi is the biggest threat and his usage of the Edo ressurrected jinchūriki were the biggest threat cause they were more or less winning and had they helped Tobi capture Naruto & Killer Bee; that's game over. If this was a game of chess, Naruto is the King. So getting rid of edo got rid of the jinchūriki turning the table on Tobi saving Naruto & Killer Bere and preventing Tobi from bringing back the Jubi

Yeah it sucks that Madara couldn't be taken out when Itachi released edo but at least he save the day by preventing Tobi from easily capturing Naruto. Also releasing all the others saved the life Tsunade when Dan saved her; also it freed up ALL the other forces so now they can all meet up with the kages and coverge on Madara who will be as could as beat thanks to Itachi releasing all the others. Madara can beat the kages but no way he can beat all the ninja world forces at once
