without sharingan this fight could be interesting, but based off the fact that Itachi was in anbu and has much more experience than Sakura, even blind w/o sharingan i think he could outsmart her. put 5 years more experience, and Sakura would be able to beat him i bet.

sadly though, she knows how the sharingan works so i am sure she wouldnt make it an easy win, but Itachi would beat Sakura in my mind if he had the MS or even the 3 tomoe sharingan. I could be wrong though, but i say at this point, Itachi would still beat Sakura pretty quick (im a Sakura fan, i dont like admitting this but its true lol she wouldnt be able to beat him)

I think itachi casted the genjutsu on all of them why would he let the other partner free and break his genjutsu .

And no, he was being wary of Itachi possibly casting a genjutsu, itachi never actually cast it on anyone besides naruto, and then later on Kakashi's clone.

He wasn't trying to kill them, as he was never a true agent for the akatsuki. He could have easily ended the fight at the beginning if he so desired.
