The Kage are dictators, no? And no I don't think Edgesuke is better, he's still running g from the problem instead of facing it head on.
A dictator is a leader with absolute power, the Kages in their current system still respond to the Daimyo in some capacity

Nice fanfic, the Daimyo is a fodder with no sway or authority over the Kage. He's more of a feudal lord they consult for ceremonial purposes, but he has no sway. If any of the Kage put two fi gears up at the Daimyo they can do f'all.

Well, fucking obviously they could overpower them, but they chose not to. A big part of the Kage system is that despite the fact that absolute power is within reach and those Daimyo could easily be cast aside, they never were, as far as we know anyway.
Ceremonial purposes though? No, mate, **** that. Look up what Daimyos did during the Warring States and you'll realize they are far more than "Consultants". They still run the country while the Kage runs these country's villages. You might realize by then this case is far less of a fanfic and more of a history book. That is essentially the difference between the current Kage system and what Sasuke "Stalin" Uchiha had in mind.

Come off it, we both know it's no difference to the Kings/Queens in name only we have across the West. However, unlike the prime minister system the Kage are dictators.

The warring states aren't the applicable to the Kage system. The warring Daimyos hired ninja to expand their territory. To end the contant wars the villages were formed and most Daimyo were like eliminated as fixed borders were set up. The Kage came to be and became the true dictator.

Yeah, there's a MASSIVE difference between a Kage and a king. For starters, Hidden Villages aren't even countries. They're basically a bunch of mercenary groups that bound together under a common flag to form a city with an agreement to serve under its country's Daimyo. It's functioning and economy are fundamentally built around ninja and their missionz, even if you have some stuff existing outside of that sphere in it. With that in mind, a Kage is closer to the leader of a country's military than its outright leader. Acts resembling dictatorships are not unfound, like Yagura purging the bloodlines off Kiri in his time, but you very rarely see a Kage acting in any way that resembles totalitarianism.

Yes and no. The point is they are the leaders and they are dictators. They rule the land, handle the security, declare the wars, manage the war economy, order assassinations etc. They handle the poltics and make treaties (Hashirama/Tobirama flashback). The Daimyo is just a figure head with no real sway or power over the villages.
