[Discussion] Itachi alive? or Sasuke's genjutsu?

Its very likely some sort of genjutsu, possibly a Tsukiyomi. Sasuke just used two of his three techniques, Susanoo and Amaterasu and neither had any affect on Danzo. He may be trying the third technique now.

Another possibility is that Itachi is using a technique like Minato used to appear for a limited amount of time after his death. Sasuke really seems to be struggling against Danzo due to some unknown ability Danzo has been using to avoid every single one of Sasuke's attacks. Maybe Itachi knows about Danzo's ability and is going to tell Sasuke how to defeat it. Also he needs to come back to smack some sense into Sasuke.

I would personally hate for Itachi to come back. It would make his epic death meaningless and would kill that whole chapter of the manga. Also, Itachi transfered his eye techniques to Sasuke and some of his power to Naruto, so the new Itachi would have to be severely weakened. It would be a semi-powered, Amaterasu-less, Tsukiyomi-less and Susanoo-less Itachi. Also one of the reasons I love Naruto is because characters who die USUALLY don't come back. Its not DBZ where Goku dies, comes back, the earth explodes, is revived, everyone dies, but the Draganballs are used to revive everyone. Naruto actually has meaningful deaths and that is one of the best parts of the series.

As for the eyes shutting we haven't been told the significance of it yet. It could simply be Danzo activating different abilities from different eyes. Danzo didn't seemed to worried about the eyes shutting. After the last attack from Sasuke all Danzo said was "Its useless".

If the eyes were Danzo's lives and hes already had three shut this easily, I would think he would be a little panicked at this point.

I have 3 theories:

1. Like Orichimaru, Itachi implanted himself as "reserve" chakra when Sasuke runs out. Madara even said Sasuke is going to run out of chakra fast "testing himself". Also Madara is unsure how he implanted his abilities in Sasuke, maybe he was inside Sasuke awaiting the ideal time to return? It is unclear what Itachi did to Naruto, Naruto has not used the power of the nine tails since that transfer and only Uchiha can control the beast. Itachi is a genius I'm not sure if it conflicts with the time line but what if he sicked the Nine Tails on Konoha knowing the 4th would seal it in his son and recently gave Naruto the power to control it, knowing that is the only way Madara will ever die.
2. Madara revealed his Sharigan mid-fight. He used Genjutsu on everyone to make Itachi appear, perhaps because Sasuke may not fully believe the "truth" and if he can make it seem like Itachi he will believe it.
3. Itachi used a bizarre body clone which made him look dead, I forget the name of the person that observed the fight. But I recall he was saying that something was off about Itachi when he was walking towards Sasuke but he couldn't figure it out. Maybe a type of clone? And Itachi used some sort of time-jutsu like Madara does to escape as he put the clone up. Also right before Itachi appears, Karin looks back and seems confused she is a sensory so that confusion may be her sensing Itachi's presence.

For the sake of the story, I hope Itachi is alive and will die in a battle against Danzo/Madara. This could turn Sasuke's hatred away from Konoha and team up against Naruto to take on Danzo/Madara for an epic 2v2 fight.

Well I would first like to start off by saying domo arigatou to Juuken/Rukia Hime/~Emperor Uzican~ ^^ and from what I have observed thus far, everybody's opinions not only have logic but were also very well thoughtout.

That is a good point, as Sasuke could have used Tsukuyomi on Danzou in the form of Itachi. Actually, like other people have stated, Danzou's eyes have been closing everytime he escapes death so even though it isn't a fact as of yet, it could definitely be something very similar to that of Kakuzu's hearts. If this does come to be true then yes, Danzou has obviously been "affected" and is why he is having to close each Sharingan eye as a sort of lifeline.

This could be true as it could be something to the effect of how Minato appeared to Naruto. Really? I don't think that Sasuke has been struggling but more like has been frustrated at the fact that the old man just doesn't die. Danzou hasn't been avoiding Sasuke's every attack because everytime he is crushed, blood gushes out to have that "effect" as if it is reality and he even had his arm decapitated. No, he has taken everything Sasuke has thrown his way but has rather avoided death somehow and in my opinion it has something to do with his Sharingan that mirror's Kakuzu's extra hearts in the way of having extra lives as backup. Oh, if Itachi is back then maybe he will be able to heal some or most of Sasuke's pain and he will as well at the same time be able to give up his vengeance because he got his brother back, though just another opinion of mine.

It is your opinion that Itachi's death was epic but Itachi allowed for this to happen and so it wasn't an epic death for me because he was never fighting Sasuke seriously. Wow you would? Well, I do respect how you feel for the characters out of the manga but for me I would be delighted if he was brought back to life because Itachi was not only a pacifist but cared very deeply for his brother and did everything that he possibly could do to protect Sasuke so of course if he came back it would be wonderful. It does appear as if Itachi transferred all of his doujutsu to Sasuke as Madara had quoted in the past and if he did then he wouldn't have them anymore right? Although, I wouldn't be so quick to count Itachi out just so soon. I mean, who knows what other techs he has besides what he has revealed thus far. In Doragon Bouru Zetto, if you remember correctly, they do have a limit on life resurrection with the Doragon Bouru so it wasn't like no matter how many times they died or the world was destroyed, it would all be brought back in an infinite manner. So what if Itachi came back, it isn't like everyone is coming back from the dead. Asuma and Jiraiya or Hiruzen etc. died and they don't seem to be reviving any time soon.​

You are correct, I think Rinnegan allowed Nagato to control time and he restored time to before he invaded Konoha. I threw it out there to show that bringing people back from the dead has happened before, so it could happen again.

But that brings me to another theory, it is unclear how so many of Nagato's bodies had got the Rinnegan. Maybe Madara's second eye is a Rinnegan which explains his unique abilities. Madara may not be trying to capture all the beasts, but maybe just Naruto and used the beasts as an excuse so people wouldn't know his true goal. If he does have a Rinnegan and Sharigan; Naruto is the last trump card as the Leaf's had a "Special Body" while Uchiha had "Special Mind" and the Rinnegan was the creator of ninjitsu or something.

1. I think those sharingans reopened.

2. Itachi did transfer his sharingan to sasuke and in fact the first time he used his mangekyo, it was itachi's. but now he has his own
