i agree tht itachi is not a gud brother. in reality he killed his ENTIRE family and plaged sasuke countless times through mental torture.he may be a hero 2 konoha but tht doesnt make wat he did right. he killed his whole damn family 4 gudness sake. he aint give a damn anout FAMILY. Itachi is a cool shinobi but he has mental problems. i dnt think shisue wuda killed te whole damn clan.
But what would you do in a situation like that. Betray your clan or betray kohona. Would you run away and not do as order and everyone including your clan would mock. Itachi did the right thing. I still blame the elders because they could have made a better decision then kill off an entire clan.

would like to hear why you disagree with my statment and what i said.

A good brother would have never done what itachi did ,and if he had to he should have done what was necessary and complete the job.Sauke life has been miserable and his whole life has been controlled by hatred and people who wanted to use that to their advantage.

And this is where his weakness as a shinobi comes from.he dedicated his entire life to save sasuke, and now it is out of his hand.
No one wanted to take advantage of Sasuke. He let them control and use him. He chose the life he's living right now. He could have stayed in the village, became strong but he chose the wrong free power-ups path. Itachi had no control over Sasuke's action. His only failure was letting Sasuke live, it's true but this is what makes him a great brother and a great character. He intended for Sasuke to stay in the village, become strong, kill Itachi and be known as the avenger and the reviver of the Uchiha clan. Itachi still has Uchiha pride as we saw from the last chapter, he did not want Nagato or anyone else to know his mission as it would make the clan look bad.

He did not dedicate his entire life to save Sasuke. He was saving Konoha first and Sasuke second. He recognized Shisui's mission before sparing Sasuke. Instead of wiping out the whole clan, he let his brother live so one day, he can revive the name of the Uchiha clan. He did all this silently without anyone knowing for more than a decade and no one would even know if it hadn't been for Tobi. Itachi is still known as the ruthless murderer who massacred his whole clan, leaving his brother behind to live a miserable life. He shows no emotions at all, always remains calm no matter what the situation. He knows self-sacrifice just as much as Shisui did. He was and diplanned 10 steps ahead of everyone, even after his death. These are all characteristics of a great ninja.

The choices he was left with were no easy choices, you have to admit. Kill his clan to prevent an all out war within the village and possibly outside or let the Uchiha go ahead with theit coup d'etate and have thousands if not millions killed. Uchiha would've ended up like the Kaguya clan imo.

wud u rather kill ur own family or let innocents die , i kno i will stick with my family n let the innocents ppl cause i got no love fo them xd

hellloo i'm new here :). i'd like to respond to you.

but what if u knew you're family was planning horrible things. things which could involve killing and destroying lives hundreds of innocent people. heck it could start an international war. would u be ok with that?

if so... O.O but a normal person would tell the police about it. in naruto world i guess killing a clan is a good option too xD.

lol I was thinking about this too today. I know people love Itachi and think hes awesome, but in reality he failed pretty badly. xd

His plan was for Sasuke to revive the clan and the Uchiha name and instead he ended up becoming one of the most wanted criminals in the world.

All in all, it is true Itachi failed. It is his fault that Sasuke is on the wrong road. He is now evil and still filled with hate. Therefore Itachi Failed.

Well itachi could only do so much, its sasuke's fault for becoming a criminal.

Sasuke knows the truth and you would think out of respect for his brother he would help protect what itachi wanted to protect not destroy it and make his brothers sacrifice/death pointless

Heres why I think Itachi is a failure. As a double agent he was in the best position to use Naruto's meathod of bringing peace to both sides by lying to everyone but he couldnt even do that right. At least thats all I know.

He actually did lie to everyone. I don't think you know at all. Tobi is the one who exposed his cover. He was a double agent until his death, even after his death he wanted to be known as a criminal for the sake of Uchiha and Konoha.

No I mean when he was still in the leaf. You know lie to the 3rd Hokage and all of them and tell them that the Uchiha called of that coup d'etat and at the same time tell his own family that that Leaf has forgiven for all previous blame and that that the Leaf will do anything to make it up to them.

Itachi‘s failure as a brother and a shinobi (not talking about intelligence or abilities)

This whole mess started with Itachi not fully committing to a mission he took upon himself, sure the elders gave him the orders, but it was his decision to obey or not.

He ended up doing a half job which resulted in ruining Sasuke’s life. Sasuke would have found peace if his life ended the night of the massacre, because then he wouldn’t have carried the extreme amount of hate he has now. You might say he couldn’t make himself kill his beloved little brother, which might have had some merit if he didn’t just murder his entire clan, his mother and father included. Itachi was willing to kill for his ideology and leaders, so him not completing the task was selfish and it obviously came back to haunt him and the entire shinobi alliance.

The remainings of itachi’s life was focused on redeeming himself, by making sure Sasuke was strong enough to not only kill him, but also move on with his life after carrying such a big burden. Itachi’s methods were also questionable here´, because he actually made sasuke more miserable by constantly mocking and humiliate him just so Sasuke’s hate could grow(with powers).Very counterproductive, because this also removed Sasuke from the love and appreciation he received from the village, and more importantly Team 7.

The only one who could/would tell Sasuke about the massacre was madara. Itachi knew that, but obviously he couldn’t take down madara, so he decided to keep an eye on him and keep him in check, which at best was a temporarely solution .When he died, his worst nightmare happened and sasuke got picked up by madara, and itachi’s desperate attempt at stopping madara(the strongest uchiha in history)with sasuke’s eyes failed yet again.I don’t think itachi thought this long, but rather put the ameterasu as an extra guarantee otherwise he would’ve thought of something better.

Finally, the last chance to help/manipulate sasuke into joining the good side failed with shisui’s eye getting exposed used against a zombie version of itachi. This was his last resort, and sasuke’s destiny is for always out of itachi’s hands, hence the failure as not just a shinobi but a brother. He now has to rely on other folks to do what he himself couldn’t. Action speaks louder than words, and itachi’s good intentions doesn’t change the events which occured.

A picture is worth thousand words, it's true!!

People who defend Itachi are usually called bias but that can be associated with many vs. threads. You will always cheer for your favorite character. There is no favoritism in this thread though.

It's like making a Minato failure thread, saying he failed to stopped Tobi and it makes him a bad ninja. Minato also kind of started this war. In reality, all this was not in Minato's control just as Sasuke's path was not in Itachi's hands.

Also just a side note. You shouldn't really compare the ideals, rules, and justice of the narutoverse with our own reality. Itachi did the best he could under the circumstances. Anybody here that was ordered to kill your family because they were planning a rebellion against your country and you had to shoulder all that hate and burden n protecting the pride of your clans name?i don't think so... Also, his original intention for sasuke was so that he would die by his hand and sasuke would be a hero for the village and restore his name. Yeah it backfired n sasuke went loco, but you canr plan for everything. Sasuke imo its reading his books upside down n getting all the wrong messages. Lol
