[Discussion] Itachi‘s failure as a brother and a shinobi

uhmmm i just wanna go ahead and throw 2 things out there real fast, 1st of all... madara already said itachi could of killed him... so go ahead and erase that, and 2nd of all... itachi was happy that he could break edo tensei with shisuis eye, when the crow came out he only said 'good so it worked'

Yes i agree itachi failed as a brother and betrayed the leaf by not killing sasuke he thought he saved sasuke's life by not killing him but that was his greatest mistake itachi is the source of sasuke's pain sasuke isn't going to make itachi pay he is going to make the leaf pay for ruining his life even naruto(his best frnd) is not an exception all thankz to itachi sasuke is in the hand of the devil himself.

First of all, Itachi was a hero because the Uchiha clan wanted to take over Komo, but he stopped it, even tho he had to kill everyone. He knew what was war like and he feared it, so he did what he had to do in order to achieve peace. He took on an unimaginable weight on his shoulders, like no man would ever do. If he would of refused, either way his family would of been killed in the war, and what good would that make?

Failure as a brother? What manga have you been reading? Itachi wanted him to become strong, and to protect him, not having leaving him experience war like he did himself. Your not even making sense, do you live in the 3rd World or something?

well how did that work out for sasuke? sasuke is raging against everybody and most of it is because of itachi.

he didnt change sasukes life for the worst he was planning on sasuke defending the leaf but sasuke chose his own way and became evil, thats not itachis fault:flaw:

You can think what you want. But Itachi's methods were all limited by the circumstances he was put in.
Maybe he should have killed Sasuke. That would have solved the problem. The point is he was not able to kill his brother so he did everything else he could to help him even if it did cause Sasuke to hate him.
It sounds like you may have misread something about that part. Itachi was able to kill nearly his whole clan in cold blood but had to spare his brother. He also had to play the part as the evil guy to Sasuke. But yea he may have failed overall. But I would say that he did the best he could have done in that situation. Couldn't ask for more.

& I think he's bloody brave to post this opinion, because it IS slightly true, whatever way you twist it.
"Failure as a brother" is a tad too melodramatic, but I totally get where this guy is coming from.

Well, I read the whole thing. With that being said, I disagree with your hypothesis. I respect what you believe in, but I don't think Itachi was a failure. Had he not prevented the war (which he did by killing his clan), he would be a terrible shinobi, by all of our standards. He achieved peace and that cannot be seen as a failure in any point of view. He has also not failed as a brother. He was/is Sasuke's older brother and he will forever be destined to protect him. That is what an older brother does. He was powerless against Madara because of his illness... That's not really a failure that he had control over. Sure, in a way he created a monster in Sasuke, but it was necessary for his survival. The elders wanted Sasuke dead, so Itachi had to do whatever he could to prevent that from happening. So, to conclude, Itachi did not fail in any aspect of life. Things did not go his way all the time, but he prepared for them and better than most. Would you say that Minato Namikaze was a failure too? If so then you are no wiser than the Raikage.... Neither of these two historic heroes are a failure...

Worst nightmare? what are you talking about? And what do you mean by the strongest uchiha? He's a mestermind but he's not the strongest. The strongest eye technique lays in Shisui's eye, imo. Get your thoughts right, and come back, because this hurts my eyes reading it.

I have to say Itachi's methods were questionable. I wonder if Kishi had planned for Itachi to be a good guy from the start, I doubt it.

Itachi could have done things A LOT better, he did some pretty messed up things to Sasuke.

But he is a great shinobi

itachi was not a failure its just that he fell short of his goal because sasuke interpreted the situation in a way itachi did not expect/want.. so i agree with u to some extent

Itachi did well but imho i dont think it was a great idea to get sasuke to want revenge on him because thats why he left the village in the first place so he expected sasuke to kill him and suddenly go back to the leaf village??? that doesnt make an awful lot of sense.... what would make him return?

Yet, on the other hand, itachi did stop a war and let his little brother survive
so i think he succeded as a shinobi by protecting his village but fell short of being a good brother because he drove the hatred in sasuke way too hard. i would have been better to just leave sasuke ALONE then maybe he would still be in leaf

We all know madara is the instigator/manipulator (ex. Goo kill them for peaces nagato! or Go 4 ur revenge sasuke!!) but he isnt the only reason itachi's mediocre plan for sasuke failed

I support this person. I agree with your arguments and i honestly think it would've been better to kill Sasuke during the Uchiha Massacre. Even without using hindsight, it's obvious that Sasuke was far to loyal and loving regarding his clan, he would never move on.

why did itachi not get rid of madara when he knew how dangerous and powerful he was?He relied on sasuke to burn him and he failed.

and what do you mean itachi was happy? Itachi know now that only naruto can stop sasuke.

would like to hear why you disagree with my statment and what i said.

A good brother would have never done what itachi did ,and if he had to he should have done what was necessary and complete the job.Sauke life has been miserable and his whole life has been controlled by hatred and people who wanted to use that to their advantage.

And this is where his weakness as a shinobi comes from.he dedicated his entire life to save sasuke,and now it is out of his hand.
