Yet KH did not get my point and responding with arguements i already adressed.
He is not the same level as 7th gate.
For ex. Itachi beats Gai who is not opening last gate, but with 8th gate they die and draw. That does not make them on par as result.
But if they were to fight a ninja out of their leagues for ex. Nagato; Itachi can't win even if it costs his life and Nagato remains alive. İf Gai fights Nagato, they both die.
The point is Gai has something in his arsenal that can make him take out an opponent even the ones above him can not.
And you didn't get my point that i tried to counter your example in the OP with mate.
And fights aren't as simple as you are making them ought to be. Because for all we know Gai could be killed the instant he turned into the 8th gate via shinra tensei by surprise or the black rods. WHile, Itachi takes out Nagato via Totsuka.
Fights =/= power.
I perfectly understand what you are trying to say, but it is nothing more than the concept of RDS. You give your life to make sure the opponent gets stopped.
Its the same as taking steroids, you might gain more power than me for a moment, but did you truly become stronger than me?
Also prime example of what i mean is this:
If you are truly stronger than someone else, than you should have the capability to beat them in a non-death match.
