pretty sure it was mentioned in the manga/anime that byakuyas zanpakutou is similar to his grandfathers. perhaps this is the way it is with shinigami? certain aspects/powers of the zanpakutou are passed along their line like genes ?

i dont think soo. And i think Isshin`s Zanpakutou is similar in looks and abilities, as Zangetsu. like father and son. They look a bitsame and have the same abilities, but not the same dude. ^^

Aizen is not dead. i can give you 100000000000000USD if he is. It would have been a dumb end of the battle. i think that the dude fighting Ichigo(dont remember his name right now ) will die before Aizen.

Aizen's definitely not dead. But I do think he may actually be injured... if only slightly. If Yoruichi, Urahara, and Isshin don't start actually injuring Aizen, even a little, soon, then they're never going to hurt him.

I agree that Getsuga Tenshou is probably a family attack thing. One important thing to note is that Getsuga Tenshou is a Shikai ability. And we didn't see Isshin release his Shikai. Also, Isshin's sword looks exactly the same as it did the last time we saw him fight, when we knew that he hadn't released into a different state.

This means that Isshin's Zanpakuto, like Ichigo's, is in a constant Shikai state, which would make sense because Ichigo and Isshin are, as stated before, father and son.

how can the white hollow ichigo use a white getsuga tenshou....? where does it come from..? all 3 of them got their unique getsuga tenshou...

Getsuga tensho's translation is moon piercer, which goes with zangetsu's translation which is cutting moon. So unless isshin's zanpakuto has a moon-related name, it is likely that they both wield zangetsu, much like toshiro and his friend in The DiamondDust Rebellion wielding hyorinmaru...

I actually agree with both of you on this, but i would still like to offer up my alternate theory.

What if Ichigo's shinigami powers are related upon Isshins, i.e. Ichigo is at full strength when Isshin is in his shikai and when Isshin is using his shinigami form and either his released zanpakutou or uses its abilities it causes Ichigo to lose his powers and become extremely weak as a shinigami

there can not be two of the same zanpakutou. and remember, the movies have NOTHING to do with the actual MANGA, the same will fillers in the anime

He lost his powers and that has been stated in the manga. He just got them back recently. As why that is, or as why he lost them for that matter, is unknown. He was a squad captain, it's impossible for him to not show his powers up till now. He just lost them somewhere along the road and just got them back (maybe the influence of the Hougyoku).

I wouldnt say it was impossible to hide his powers, i think he had help from urahara who gave him a sepcial gigai to help him stay away from the soul society

What if Ishinn`s daughters have shinigami powers? Ichigo have it, so why not the them.(cant remember the name right now) The girl with blue/black hairs can se and sence spirits.
