Capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.

It is a form of greed where the rich and the wealthy people in society, the top 1 percent as they say oppress the poor and refuse them quality education and health care, something which the conservatives in america believe?

Both suck in different levels honestly.

Tbh as humans we have to move away from the 100 year olds boxes called socialism and capitalism. We have to find different and more adequate systems; the World changes drasticly. This population can not go on with these systems , i think it is possible to find new or atleast moderate ways like how our ancestors dropped monarchy and replaced it with democracy.

Communism for example wasn't meant to be used as a political structure but an economic structure, you can have pure communism ECONOMICALLY in a democratic environment. More importantly you have to be careful on how you dictate what's "capitalist" America is a capitalist country but we're a FREE MARKET capitalist country, not all capitalism is the same there are sub-divisions to capitalism just like there are subdivisions to company, religious sects, infrastructure, etc. Free market has a Laissez-faire approach where it is made by the consumer and the producer in question, which, in most cases is how America operates. Conservatives believe in free market, however, they believe the money should be reallocated to the businesses so that way when businesses make money they can trickle down the remainder to the people, while this would work with honest businesses it doesn't work for everyone. No form of government is perfect, it depends solely on the people or the person running, there are UPS and downs to basically everything. If there was no greed in capitalism, a country would go very broke, very fast. Due to some monetary means not being met, a form of greed is adopted just to maintain the status quo, it isn't greed of the righteous for sure, but it isn't greed of the unnecessary either. It is a misconception however to generalize that the rich and wealthy oppress the poor, the poor oppress the poor just as evenly, governments rely on the people's ignorance in order to achieve a certain reaction or to further it's goals under normal circumstances. People continuously forget that the power of government rests in their hands and yet many refuse to take action, leading to an array of corruption, to continuously blame someone else instead of yourself has been a game of "hide-and-seek" with humanity and it only shows a lack of integrity, as president Kennedy once said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what you can do for your country".

Even Marx said communism and democracy don't mix.

You need to watch this
Yeah... You didn't show me anything I didn't know :lol. He actually agrees with me. Capitalism can't work to its full potential because of greed. That isn't to say it still isn't the best alternative. It's simply because the world runs on greed, as Mr. Friedman points out.

I was illustrating your stating of the obvious.

In truth, many countries in the west use mixed economies, some more efficiently than others. There's not a country where socialism or capitalism is applied in full. Mainly because it's a pipe dream. The way economies have progressed over time has naturally led to mixed economies where capitalism and socialism work in conjunction with each other. Take, for example, the Nordic Model that is applied in Scandinavian countries. Depending on the country, they have free healthcare, free education, and extensive welfare programs at the expense of higher taxes. Those countries also have free-market capitalism, with Denmark and Norway having a higher ease-of-doing-business rating than the US and UK. So there you have an example of them combining socialism and capitalism.

In the case of the US, Capitalism has had a positive effect, but the socialist policies of FDR were very beneficial as well. It is true that income-inequality is worse in the US than in other countries, but its hard to say if it's because of capitalism because the US also has many regulations in place, and they're not really working.

Really, I find it pointless to advocate for one or the other entirely.

Communism was meant as an economical standpoint, politically communism and democracy don't mix, but you can have economic communism and democracy as the political infrastructure. You also have to understand since Marx didn't like democracy to begin with so he wouldn't want his ideals to mix with it, bit it is possible, the united states is a democracy but it's borderline oligarchy when it comes to people like the president and the supreme court, you could almost think of it as a sugar coated version of oligarchy. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it IS bit when you look at it from that perspective. But yeah you are right, political communism and political democracy don't work, communism was meant to be economical not political, that's why when it's been tried to be used as political it failed in most places, the soviet union (current day Russia) just being one of those places. But in some places it does work due to the political jurisdictions.

In theory capatalism isn't greedy and unfair, as if one works to make money one is entitled to keep it, and one who doesn't work and doesn't earn money has only themselves to blame. In practise, the people who get into the position to make loads of money are greedy and abuse those below them and their workers, who might work long hours but get payed very little.

I'm saying that even if we had purely economic communism, they majority would rule in their own favor(the definition of democracy) and basically undo the communism.
