[Debate] Is Virginity Still Important Nowadays?

It's an important concept depending on who you talk to. I know a lot of people who aren't virgins who wish they still were because they wanted to save it for someone more special than who they lost it to. It isn't just about the principle of having ***. You give your first time to only one person. Most people want that to be someone they truly care about, not a one night stand or a little fling here and there. Not even for religious implications, it has to have meaning. I don't plan on waiting until marriage. I'm 18, a virgin, but I'm waiting until I find someone worth losing it over. I'm not going to have *** just to say I lost it.

There is nothing wrong with not being a virgin.
It is the beliefs and opinions of PEOPLE that create the stigma around the topic of virginity.
The only importance where virginity was concerned was the preconceived notions that people stuck to it.
There is no inherent importance to virginity.

It is only important if people decide they want it to be important.
You think it SHOULD be because that is how YOU were raised.
You need to learn to differentiate YOUR personal beliefs and the rest of the world seeing how they have their own life and own mind and thus there own view on things.
Just the way the thread has been presented make it seems as if its okay for one set of people to dictate how all people must regard a subject.
And thats just plain wrong.

Stop projecting the responsibilities of parents to ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.
Stop acting as if people don't have the choice to make their own decisions.
And don't act as if its the not up to individual on who they replicate and look up to.

Virginity can mean different things so the answer to your question varies. Some may see it as just the absence of having *** with someone while others place spiritual and ethical standards within the concept. Often those who are fine with losing virginity carry the former definition rather then the latter.
Personally, virginity is demonstrates self control and the comprehension of thinking ahead rather than in the moment. However, this is under the assumption that one can actually get laid which isn't a ridiculous assumption since the on average people are average looking.......how i would have guessed average is average I have no idea.

Actually, after losing my virginity, I have come to respect virgins more. I feel that they are more respected in middle school. And when you get into high school, it's not that you aren't respected, it's that it's pretty rare. I know a girl in my 6th period class that I am crushing on, pretty hard, and she hasn't even had her first kiss yet. That being said, I respect her too much to even try and get with her. She's pure and I'm pretty disgusting. Even though I've only done it once.

Because it's kinda morally wrong to have *** before marriage, and no I am not saying that it is wrong , in my opinion it doesn't really matter but most of the people I met tend to act like they're virgin because of the"shame" , "regret" or any other personal reason
