I am huge fan of Rap/Hip-Hop

But today's music is just....Terrible. Its the same thing, money, women, and drugs.
Music today doesn't have meaning as it used to back in the old days when Eminem went hard. When Jay-Z showed people how bad ass it was to be from Brooklyn. Nas lyrical game destroys todays rappers.
Of course Tupac and Biggie will always be legend and they were the peak of rap.

I'm not saying their aren't some good rappers today Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Lupe Fiasco, and Tyler the creator (He was awesome with his first couple of mixtapes)

So my question to you guys....
Is Hip-Hop dead compare to how it used to be?

Every generation ppl will say "This generation's music sucks". In ten years, ppl will be saying what happened to the rappers of 2012/2013. I'm not saying they're all great, but it's the basic concept.

Honestly, ppl need to stop with this. Just like how ppl moan and groan about how "bad" Justin Bieber is. He'll be considered a legend in the future.

The style of music now is like adapting to inflation. You have skill as an aspiring artist, and once you hit it big you have to keep your songs simple and retarded to stay there.

no its not dead, you slaughterhouse, eminem, immortal technique, vinnie paz, K rino, chino xl, hopsin, kendrick, diabolic and more mc's who are still doing their thing and making good music....if you think that rap is dead then you probably one listen to the radio..

rap has gone underground and into the battling scene nowadays
this guy would murder 95 percent of current rappers and he's only a battler

Ive heard of them all, But this also proves another point. Most people don't know who they are, why? Because the hip-hop industry don't care about them as much, they don't care about lyrics they care about a hot beat and a good chorus that is it.
More people Know Soulja boy then the guys that you just listed its fact. This is where hip-hop is

There are some that are keeping it alive. There are many artists that know how to write, you just have to look for them. I think Em's releasing an album soon.

The thing is though, these new rappers know how to play the game. They struck gold and are now riding their wave of popularity, they are filthy rich, why should they put in any effort when the mainstream audience is going to eat it up regardless of the music they produce. The fault lies in both the artists and the people, we constantly listen to garbage while the real talent is unrecognized, then there's the artists who put little effort into their music because that is the trend these days. You could also say that these mediocre rappers give a false sense of hope to the youth that listen to them, they churn out garbage, so kids think "hey, this looks pretty easy, and they get paid millions doing it, I should give it a go". Now I'm not saying that people shouldn't follow their dreams, it's just that rappers nowadays influence the rappers of the next generations, and if the future is anything like the present, then it looks pretty bleak.

I don't see how women should've been put into the list . . . Don't judge the entire music industry, you can if you've listened to every piece of rap/hip-hop from this generation though.
