Can anyone explain to me how Goku's own brother Raditz was not mentioned or remembered as a character when he died? Because honestly having the title of a brother. He should have at least gotten a back story.

wish raditz had been a main character and turned good like vegeta. then slowly raditz and goku would have become real brothers even if raditz didn't get any stronger

Yeah its a shame really. Because his character design was not all that bad. It took me to watch a show like Fairy Tail to realize how bad ass he could have been. If you know of a character by the name of Gajeel. He was basically inspired from him. His personality also matches Vegeta.

Well like the saying goes. "Another man's trash is another man's treasure."

I still call bullshit. Giving a character a title of a brother to your main hero. Than killing him off with no mention of him throughout the series.
Well it's not like Goku had any memories or affection towards him. Hell, we didn't even know if they were ACTUALLY brothers until recently with that short manga chapter with Goku's mom. He could have meant that the same way Cell meant it when he called Piccolo his brother. Raditz only role in the series was to introduce Saiyans into the story and explain what Goku is. There's not really much to look back on with him

Fair enough. So your saying there is a chance he was never really his true brother?

Raditz wasn't Goku's brother, he was Kakarot's. When he hit his head on the rock he completely changed as a person. Raditz isn't more important then Nappa really.

Yeah, there was no real way to know if he meant they were literally brothers, or just saying that to make it easier to sway Goku into joining him, Nappa, and Vegeta since they were the last of their kind and should stick together like brothers. They don't look alike at all, they have no real similarities in general.

But ofc now we know that they are blood brothers.

Yeah I know the past is the past and DBZ was a good series for its time. But I still wish this character got more importance in the series.

He seems like he's meant to be the hook for DBZ. You come for action, you get it combined with drama, and now you gotta watch it to see how powerful the Saiyans are and how the Z fighters can compete without Goku.

I just don't think Raditz was meant to have any kind of depth. More of a big bad with plot device. Being the earliest episodes in the series was probably a huge reason. It was an action anime/manga that needed to sell action right out of the gates.
