The show i grew out of so It's childish to me but the games are awesome I'd rather play pokemon than any other hand held game. I used to even collect the cards but that to I lost intrest in however I still got alot of the originals like Charizard, Zapdos, and Alakazam. Pokemon forever! Just wish Ash would move on how long is he gonna be a little kid.

There were 2 reasons why i stopped pokemon 2/1,5 years ago:
- 5th generation that fully crushed my pokemon fan era (i was a big pokemon fan)
- And... yh. It became too childish... but pokemon manga isnt that bad. But i only read the frist one, with "red"...

i really liked it as a kid, but it's a bit childish (I only watch it if my little cousin is watching it, but I think I'll boycot the new generation all together). And speaking of which; every new generation of Pokemon is getting worse and worse. Kanto was the best, Johto was alright, Hoen they got rid of Misty, so I put it beneath the others, sinnoh is worse than Hoen, and whatever this new one is is just a grasp at straws to try and get more money from pokemon (and I saw a list of the pokemon; they're all incredably stupid-looking). On another topic, my favorite episodes are the first one (where he get's Pikachu), the one where they find a Mankey, and Ash catches a 'donut' pokemon, the one that gave thousands of Japanese kids siezures, and any episode that has emotion. If there's anyone who still watches it, tell me about an episode with lot's of emotion, especially if it's in the Kanto or Johto regions, and I will thank you for it.

have you watched all the seasons and not just heard people pass their biased opinions on them. i understand you love the original two seasons but the others arnt as bad as people make them out to be. most fans are jaded (i say this because if the story moves away from the original source many fans it cast it off even if the changes are for the better) every time i heard of a new pokemon series i get a little skeptical but i give it a chance. out of all the seasons so far i liked sinnoh because it had epic battles and it shows off ash's naive nature against a trainer the opposite of him. and one of my other favorite seasons is at the end of hoen when ash fights against the last frontier brain and he loses countless times so he decides to use his original team (the team from kanto) and that still wasnt the answer. although this show has its share of childish episodes (in all the seasons) that doesnt mean its childish.

It's not childish, but they are over doing it, I like the first 4 season, but it's always the same... Ash coleects all the bagdes, but isn't capable to win the pokemon league... and they use more computer animations, which I don't like...

But the games are rather cool

like I said before, they only want money I guess, it's always the same story/plot in one season.

while the Naruto/Bleach/One Piece anime/manga are different story's in one season...

In a way, yes and no.

Pokemon, as an anime, is currently (in my opinion) targeted more towards the younger audience than those who've been with it since square one. However, that doesn't mean the older audience can't enjoy it.

And the games retain their child-like quality, but - especially with Black and White - they've matured. The plot is deep and the characters have real depth.

Some people now don't like Pokemon because it is childish- others remain with the series because of Sentimental value, or - like me - because they still love it.

In a way, I think this is the best way to sum it up - Pokemon is childish, but, that's what draws some of us back to it. It's simplistic, and to a point, innocent.

I don't know about others, but a lot of the friends I have now I met when I was small - we all liked Pokemon. To me, I have good memories around Pokemon - they represent a good, and innocent time.

And I think that's part of the appeal behind the games, regardless of it being "childish".
