Hitting your child only shows a lack of control and ability as a parent. It's just conditioning another to do certain things based on a constant presence of fear.

Actually I did receive physical punishment, and there are other means of teaching a lesson then intimidation and fear. Taking away video games, extra work, cutting the lawn etc all works. Physical punishment might work for some kids but they can damage a kid too especially if ever a parent happens to be stupider, however other means as mentioned works on both and doesn't have as many negative effects. Therefore violence is alternate to incapable parent, not that I care about what they do or that not everyone is capable of dealing w/o violence, doesn't change the facts though.
