You didn't specify what you mean by "Us"...
But judging by your location, India.. I'd say no, it's not really a threat to anyone else but japan at the moment... And also the wind direction is the other way.. towards america, but by the time the wind that is in japan reaches america, there will not be any radiation in the atmosphere left.

If you're talking about nuclear powerplants in general.. no, they are not a danger, as long as they are built correctly and the engineers dont **** up.
When the ones in japan were built, the japanese government was warned that the powerplants could fail if a big earthquake hit japan (Now I don't know if this is true, but thats what they said in the papers). Now that is the engineers fault, they didn't make it safe enough.

Nuclear power is the most efficient and cleanest way of getting energy.
So when building a powerplant, it is very important that they build it safe so that the same thing doesn't happen anywhere else in the world.

as expected....
Its all about planning.
the nuclear plant in japan was made to withstand quakes which it was able to.
unfortunately, it was only made to withstand tidal waves up to a certain height. it is because of that wave that caused damage to the reactor.

Under normal conditions they're perfectly safe. Normal conditions will occur 99% of the time, but theres always a chance that an unexpected act of nature or human error could cause the reactors to meltdown. Its a risk people are willing to take.

Newer nuclear plants are safer. Older nuclear plants used (some still do) use bomb grade uranium (75%+ enrichment), uranium capable of going BOOOOM. Newer plants use 5-20% enriched Uranium. The plants also have a more unique method of causing nuclear fission. When in water the Uranium is capable of reacting because the water acts as a catalyst for the reaction. When it is taken out of water the reacting stops because without water neutrons cannot reach other atoms properly and with enough energy. So even if the cooling units failed you simply lift the rods out of the water and reactions stopped. :D

The #1 problem is nuclear waste. You can reprocess nuclear waste and get 90% usable material out of it with only 10% useless material. You can then reuse that over and over and over and over. The problem is that the US government deemed reprocessing bad because that reprocessed material could be used to make more bombs (lol the US govt worried it might make more bombs if it starts processing nuclear waste). So for right now we just throw the stuff in an area on the nuclear plant and forget about it forever. France has been reprocessing nuclear waste and it has worked fantastically!
