Is Naruto really fighting the kyuubi...?

No seriously, the kyuubi is said to be the most fearsome creature existed who could wipe out villages in like secs. Even the 4th hokage had to sacrifice himself to seal it into Naruto. There is almost no one who can actually defeat the 9 tails itself. Look at the recent chapters, Naruto and bee are fighting the kyuubi and the kyuubi became so weak. [Insert the title here]

But then, the Kyuubi is currently sealed within Naruto. It's not like Naruto is physically fighting the Kyuubi. Naruto is fighting the Kyuubi within his mind.

Also narutos powers are amazing too, and looked like the fox was about to win until kushina turned up...

Actually when they say letting the Fox out, it's really who gets Naruto's body? When the Fox was sealed in Naruto it was the Fox spirit, The Fox actual body is long gone that is why when it takes over Naruto it reshapes the body to be a Fox.

i dont think that the kyuubi naruto is fighting is that much weaker than he is when he's released. dont forget that amaterasu was enough to beat 8-tails, bijuus are strong but not almighty (especially since they are stupid). akatsuki caught almost all of them and god pain beat 7-tailed kyuubi, he needed to go up to 8 in order to break chibaku tensei and pain was able to create a bigger one.
personally i think that madara, hashirama and also minato could have been able to beat kyuubi, the only real problem is to pierce it's skin.

Naruto is fighting himself. The fox is simply trying to take advantages of naruto's evil impulses. Thinks of this like the adam and eve story at the garden of Eden in the bible. Adam was trying to fight his urges to take the forbidden fruit, where in that story the snake tempted Adam to take the first like fox is trying to do now to naruto.

The only time we saw the fox actually be fought was when the first hokage was taking on the fox and madara. Trruly epic
