Is naruto or shikamaru a better hokage

Best option would be for Naruto to be a hokage, but have shikamaru as his second hand and advisor. Becouse knowing Shikamaru's personality, being a Hokage would be too troublesome for him. And Hokage have to be strong enough to protect village from threats like PAIN, Orochimaru, Akatsuki, etc...

I agree totally shikamarus not strong enough to be hokage although he is smart enough and he wouldn't want it either

I think Shikamaru would be a better hokage, at the moment. He's smart and he cares a lot for the village. Even Asuma said that if Shikamaru tried, he could one day become hokage.
Naruto's super strong and he also cares for the village and everything, but he makes impulsive decisions sometimes.

dont get me wrong, i'm a big shikamaru fan but i highli doubt it, his taijutsu is poor, veri small chakra deposit, he would be good at genjutsu but hasn shown any use of them, no elemental jutsu's, onli ninjutus he has is few variations of shadow binding...naruto alredi surpassed him during the chunin exam..the gap now isn evn worth comparing
..i agree in terms of inteligence his onli 2nd to his dad but strength is a major factor, generalli speakig the hokage is the strongest in the village, u can argue tsunade's case..but i dont think she got the title of sannin for no reason, n we hvnt reali seen her fight..that fight with kabuto she feared blood so not a good fight to examine her skills by.
so a more suitable scenario would be naruto as hokage and shika as his right hand man

Having tsunade a healer was bad enough, but a tactician hokage? the other villagers will be laughing thinking "weve got thousands of tacticians" also naruto has won respect everywhere, you need to be legendary to be hokage, or other villages will attack thinking your weak. The village prospered when minato was hokage, it would be even better if naruto was hokage.

Shikamaru couldnt even handle kakuzu properly, and needed to plan his battle with hidan, in a one on one he would be destroyed by any ninja, a sneak attack from raikage would easily destroy him.

Thats no way for a hokage to die right.

his IQ is his weapon.think for a second in the real life,although it is neccessary for each country to have to have there army but for these army to mobilize a plan should be made by someone ie: were shikamaru comes in get it?

Naruto would make a better hokage. Shikamaru has the intelligence but he doesn't have the power. Intelligence can only get you as far as shikaku. I think Shikamaru would be Jonin commander and naruto's right hand man. The hokage is supposed to be a person who can confront an extremely powerful shinobi who attacks village, similar to how 1st and minato stopped Madara and 3rd stopped oro. Shikamaru can't confront these type of shinobi and win. Intelligence is practically useless against overwhelming power. Naruto on the other hand can stop and beat these type of shinobi. Furthermore naruto inspires people to follow him and believe in him, which is a must have trait for hokage. Shikamaru doesn't have this.

Ok in my opinion this goes to Naruto because:
1.He is the son of the 4th hokage, he was trained by Kakashi (who was trained by Minato and who is also Kage material) and by Jyraia (one of the 3 Sannins, also Kage material, and the trainer of Minato) so from this point of view he is a candidate.
2.He has connections with other hidden villages and other Kages (Gaara and recently even A) and he is also more famous than Shikamaru.
3.The will of fire is strong in this one (if not actually the strongest)
4.He has the desire to protect his village, and unlike Shikamaru he also has the power to do that.
5.He might get too emotionally involved in things but remember "Those that break the rules and regulations are scum. But those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum!"
6.He is not that dumb anymore... he might not be a genius but still all his fighting experience would come in handy.
The only thing Shikamaru has is his brain... yea that is great but the very first attribute of the Hokage is to protect the village, something Shikamaru is not capable of.
And if Naruto does become Hokage he will indeed be nothing like those before him... i just can't imagine him doing paperwork and handling this kind of duties... he would be even lazier than Tsunade lol xd... he would just go and eat free ramen all day long and just sit on the roof of his office and watch the clouds.
So i guess it would be Naruto as Hokage and Shikamaru as his tactician.
