Is J.man overrated or not?

Indeed, we have never seen so many techniques from Jiraya. the only epic fight he had was with Pain, on top of which he just could flee from Pain's summonings again on top of which with the help of Gamakan toad. Even with sage mode, it was two sage toads that cast a genjutsu on 3 Pains with their frog song. Well put Pain aside, I for one think he is a bit overrated as being a really strong shinubi. For example if u remember, Itachi once said that if he and J man come face to face with each other both will be killed. This is absurd I think because I believe Killing J man was to some extend a piece of cake for Itachi. Yes of course he's a great man by personality. I really love him. I really appreciate the way he never gives up and his determination. Wow how much I wrote

Of course he's strong. But exactly as u said not as strong as many people think nor as strong as depicted by Kishi. I wish before fighting with Pain, he could have at least another epic fight in which he could show unique and wow techniques of his own without going to sage mode

Of course not, Jiraiya is THE one and only J-man and he is a great shinobi and teacher, remember he is 1/3 of the Legendary Sannin and that is a title only 2 others hold. Itachi respected him and knew his strength that's why he advised against fighting him when Kisame wanted to. Yes Naruto surpassed him but that is how things work, the student is taught so he may one day surpass the teacher. So in conclusion, no J-man is not overrated whatsoever.

I think you are underrating Jiraiya and since when did he only have a few techniques? He has a lot of powerful ninjutsu at his disposal especially in sage mode. Just go and look on Naruto Wiki to see all the techniques he can use.

Anyway Jiraiya can be overrated at times such as when people think he can beat Itachi or Sasuke. There was also a thread putting him up against Mei, Tsunade, Konan, Chiyo, Temari, Kurotsuchi and some others yet there were people who thought Jman would win if not stomp.

well, that's the point, it has been a thousand times repeated that he is one the legendary Sannin. But actually I think among these three only Oro deserves to be called a Sannin. Of course I believe that Itachi's advice thing was just Kishi's deliberation for not putting these two fighting with each other because if they fight they have to resort to their strongest technique and that's when J man has nothing powerful compared to Itachi's superpowerful techniques that I consider too obvious to mention.
