Well this type of thing hasn't happened too often for Itachi, so....

Totsuka blade seems pretty useful for that exact situation it was introduced for (but at least Itachi used it again with Nagato)

Anyway please please I dont want to start an itachi flamewar here, that's not what this thread is about aha

Yes it's cheap. It's only usable against a very limited amount of people so it wont be used ever again, and it felt like it was the only way they could win. To be honest this is the only moment in the story that I really felt like it was an asspull. I am not a particular fan of either Itachi, Kabuto or Sasuke but that fight could have been sooooooooo much better.

Also that this move was invented in the first place means that either someone had shitloads of Sharingans before Danzo (Otherwise it would be easier to kill them twice then to invent a jutsu to counter it.) or that everyother Uchiha way back when knew the technique.

It's a cheap written deus ex machina... hmm... how to defeat Kabuto? Ow wait.. I still have the counter-part to Izanami... heheh, just give some background info to this asspull, and nobody will disagree....

Kabuto should've been slaughtered by Susanno... like in the Japanese tale of Susanno and Yamato no Orochi... THAT would've been awesome... I mean, story-wise it didn't make sense(so far)... they did it to stop Madara(right), they failed... all frigging Jin could've, and would've been able to seal after kabuto's blood was used for redecorating the entire cave with his blood... two times! :D I mean Oro still could've been resurrected...

Or oro DID take DSM from Kabuto... in that case: THANK YOU IZANAMI!

Seriously, because I suggested like 3 ideas of the top of my head which were more believable and interesting.

Orochimaru DNA takes over, Kabuto goes batshit crazy with power and loses all sense, Itachi somehow weakens his Edo Tensei jutsu and Kabuto's own Edos turn against him... Hell couldn't Totsuka Blade have worked? Something that involves how Kabuto is sneaky and that would be his undoing. Something cool.
Idk i just feel like the way he built up Kabuto's personality, falling for anything would seem bizarre. also itachi was not trying to kill kabuto, he needed to gain control over him so he could undo the jutsu.

Some of u It seem ur forgetting 1 important thing Killing Kabuto Does not end the EDO TENSEI

Izanami was the only solution naruto wasnt there to do TNJ

Also only stupid arrogant or stubborn opponents cannot break out of it if Kabuto stops lying to himself and excepts his fails and hius life then he will be free simple as that

Itachi was designed to beat Oro/Kabuto but Kishi forgot to give him an jutsu which works against a stronger Kabuto so he did it later
I'm sure if Itachi had to fight Hashirama Kishi would just give him a wood element counter

Exactly. And then like 3 pages worth of explanation and there everyone just buys it. Kishi is the biggest Itachi fanboy of them all.

I agree to an extent, it kind of just appeared out of nowhere, which was a bit annoying, as I was hoping for a more thrilling end in the fight between Kabuto and Itachi/Sasuke.

Btw, that Deus Ex Machina crap can simply be translated to thw widely popular term "Ass-pull"
I agree, but we all know Kishi likes pulling crap from his butt

Question for the OP

So does that mean Izanami can beat Izanagi in terms of abilities?

Why would itachi totsuka blade kabuto he needed him alive to undo the edo tensei which is another reason why they didnt try to kill him. Also they never mentioned amaterasu, tysukyomi, and susano'o before itachi done it why should izanami be any diffrent nd u should have expected izanami if they hav izanagi

I think Itachi's presence in the manga acts as a reminder to readers that "every jutsu has weakness". Often we see very strong techniques and it's easy to assume that whoever wields said technique is invincible.

Izanami is a very powerful technique, but it's an essential one. I feel Kishi uses Itachi to show that anyone can be beaten.

What else did you expect from Solo King #2? Did you expect anything other than a one-shot?

I would actually buy this if Kishimoto didn't praise him every single chapter from that point onwards. I think Kishimoto just has a crush.
