How could you know Hiruzen´s talk no jutsu would´ve worked? Ah, well. You couldn´t. It´s an assumption.

And yes, he loved his brother more than anything else. His parents and his clan wanted to start another war and he was the one who could prevent it -- as Danzo said, the peace solutions were over. It was either more talking and then sudden strike with everyone dead (even Itachi) or that Sasuke will live if Itachi does it on his own.

What would you choose?
- A chance, that all your parents may live but there is also a big chance that the will start a war that will be the end of them. Even for you.
- You will end it yourself and save your little brother, whom you love.

For me, he is the most interesting guy in the show. Everyone else is either too perfect (Minato) or too broken (Naruto´s dumbness, meh).

(Nevertheless, my favorite guy is Kakashi -- just so you know)

Not all and it can maybe be stoped if he followed Hiruzen.And no Baby and older civilian won't rebel .Not all Uchiha were ninja,her mother was innocent,baby was innocent,even cool older who wasn't ninja.

I'm pretty sure not every Uchiha agreed with the uprising. Some may just be scared so they chose to go along with it. Although Itachi is not heartless as he was crying while getting the job done. His father is also a great man who chose to die instead of fighting his son.

He was polite seconds from his death. It is not hard to act tough seconds from death, at least not for a high-ranking shinobi (Deidara, Kakashi). Still, it´s an assumption. And do not forget that Itachi knew his father well.

he really wasnt given much of a choice....regardless danzou said he could either kill the clan and save his brother or the anbu will kill the clan and him and his brother. Doubt they could have killed Itachi so easily, but Sasuke would have been one of the first to go most likely. I do wonder how a genius like Itachi thought treating the way he treated Sasuke all these years was right, however i do understand completely why he did what he did. He didnt make the right choices, despite his intentions and now in his probably true real death (no comebacks lol) he is telling Sasuke what he should have heard years ago.
