Honestly, America owes it to the Native Americans, considering its there land there sat on, there land they work on, America was stolen from them and so I think they are owed more than can ever be repaid.

African Americans. This one is more difficult. Though racism is a real problem black people are much more integrated into society that Native Americans are and also slavery, though prolific in America was by no means confined to America. Its harder for Black people in America I understand that and sympathise deeply but I can't help feeling that it plays a small part in the ongoing racism, if you can't move on you can't move forward.

Again, with the Japanese, payment to the people who physically suffered, yes. My Nan got a payment because my Grandfather was a Japanese Prisoner of war, it came decades after his death but...the one thing I would like to see America do is apologise for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they used them as a test site and made themselves one of the worst human right violators of WW2 in two bombs and yet they persist in sticking up for what they did. The war would have ended in a few months, it was totally unnecessary, if you heard those peoples stories...if you heard them...I have, its beyond nightmarish...

I agree with your point on African Americans up to a certain point. I don't think African Americans ever really got anything. Right after slavery if African Americans had gotten affirmative action, we would probably be at the same point in society as everyone else. However since we didn't there were millions of blacks without jobs and that couldn't get any jobs because of segregation. Blacks could barely vote, could barely get education, and could barely be on the street at the same time as a white person. You're telling me they had equal rights as everyone right after slavery? That's why I think people haven't been able to move on. After slavery blacks went through decades of hardships.

Finally after blacks got (equal rights) people automatically expected them to assimilate the culture that existed in the US already. The same culture that condemned them for the color of their skin. That's where you get the beginning these new genres of music seemingly exclusive to blacks and about the struggle.

look at that bullshit
took their land, colonized, and only gave them a small ass space out of the entire US to live

it's kinda sad what happened to the Native Americans

Agreed. They deserve everything they get in terms of money and land.

The point still stands.

OK, reparation for all descendants of serfs. Because we should all get reparations if your ancestors endured some sort of hardship in connection to a form of slavery.
The point doesn't stand. You can't say Native Americans can't get shit because other civilizations that were wiped out didn't get shit. At the time they didn't get shit because that wasn't the mentality of society at the time. In this day and age people realize how f-cked up it is that Europeans and European Americans did that to that group of people.

The point does stand because that's nature of colonization and war.

Also I would like to point out that Native Americans own the majority of the casinos in America and enjoy billions of dollars in revenue a year so I think their much deserved "reparations" has been earned.

You don't get what I'm saying apparently Lol. You're thinking with the 6 year old mentality 'If I can't have it you can't either'.

That's because they made that money on their own. Since there's a black man as commander in chief does that mean we don't need to learn about slavery anymore as part of American history? Lol. Come on Okami...

No, that's not what I mean. I know that even now black people in American struggle for equality I just meant that currently it would not help the situation of racism. A lot of people now would not feel responsible for what happened and it can create bad blood in a sensitive situation. I never said that black people had equal right, right away

Oh I get what you're saying and I just don't agree with it, you shouldn't be rewarded for you ancestor's hardships.

Oh no, teach people about slavery in American history but teach all of it. Teach them about the black slave owners the white slaves(indentured servants) and about blacks selling each other into slavery. Because that's all apart of it too.

Don't just teach "Evil white people came over and took innocent black people and made them slave" not that cookie-cutter bullshit.

At the same time do you feel responsible for wiping the Native Americans off their lands? Your tax dollars are going to them every year though.

I can agree with that. If you're going to teach history, teach it all.

Are you crazy? The majority of the Native Americans live in poverty and are on some form of government assistance.

Secondly, casionos aren't owned by particular individuals and the casinos that gross millions of dollars a are owned by cooperation's such as MgM, Ceasers Inc., Boyd Gaming ect.. Those corporations are owned by white business men!

Now the casinos that are under the illusion of Native American ownership such as Casino Rama aren't independently owned, their equal equalivent to franchises.

@Bold
What America did saved millions of lives that could have been lost due to the constant fighting (to all sides)
The Japanese would never give up due to their ideal (Retreating is worse than death so dying in battle is seen as the best way to die in honor for your country) Not only that but they were allied with Nazi's (i'm sure you what they did)
Extra months of fighting would mean more money wasted, more deaths, etc
You know what else caused nightmares kamikazes flying into warships.
Thanks to Hiroshima and Nagasaki WWll ended pretty quick which was fantastic news.

By government assistance you mean reservations? Ya, we know. Also plenty of races in america live in poverty.

The majority of casinos are owned by Native Americans just because it's not in a major city doesn't mean a thing.

No I mean food stamps and H.U.D

You saying that Native Americans are profiting off of billions of dollars is luaghably incorrect.

You aren't getting what he's saying either. You're not looking at this objectively. Reparations for ancestors are bullshit because everyone's ancestors have gone through some hardship set upon them by an elite, ruling class. You can't quantify human suffering because then you are saying someone else's (or someone else's ancestors) suffering isn't as great. As he said, Serfdom was European slavery that existed for six hundred plus years. Look at the Irish potato famine; the ruling class was selling produce and meats to the world while letting serfs starve in the streets.

And where does it start and stop in terms of US history? 90-some percent of American Southerns didn't own slaves, after the 1850s 0% of Northern Americans owned slaves. Do you make people descendant from poor farmers or merchants pay reparations? What about immigrants to the United States after slavery, after the Indian relocation? You would have a Kenyan American or an Irish American who's family came to this country in the 1960s pay for reparations?

As I said before, unless you directly were impacted monetarily by a government mandated institution (that can be fully quantified) then you have to move on.

Yes, so do plenty of others, your point?

No it is correct have you seen some of the reservations with casinos on them? They're like gated mansion communities.

Also in addition to the casinos, they make ton of money off of fireworks on New Years and the Fourth of July.

I can agree with that. If you're going to teach history, teach it all.

I don't feel responsible at all, I'm British I live in the UK born and bred :bdpf:

You misunderstand what I am saying, I was just pointing out how it can help to raise tensions

There are large US accounts for billions of dollars where interest has accrued over the course of 140 years set aside for specific tribes of American Indians. The money was what was "given" in exchange for their lands (mostly in the mid west). It has sat, collecting interest, and rotting because it is considered an insult to take. It would be admitting they sold their land for monetary gain.

You are a little misinformed though about American Indian casinos. The vast majority of accumulated wealth from Indian Casinos was allocated to specific tribes in the US northwest and northeast, but most live in the US west. The wealth pulled in from those casinos do not go to benefit Indians as a whole, but the select few tribes who's reservation was independent of gambling inhibition laws. Those casinos are also considered to be shameful.

My opinion is: no

We of the current era are not responsible for our predecessors wrong doings.

We should however make sure that they are not negatively effected by the past though.
In other words, make sure they can live a normal life.

What's my point? My point is that you are misinformed and dancing around the noun none as ignorance.

You said, "I would like to point out that Native Americans own the majority of the casinos in America and enjoy billions of dollars in revenue a year so I think their much deserved "reparations" has been earned."

Poverty prevails on reservations, Native Americans have the highest poverty and unemployment rates in the United States of America. The poverty rate of Native Americans: 35% of the 2.4 million Native Americans in the US (9% of the American population) so those billions of dollars you claim the Native American population is making (which is incorrect) isn't helping the 35% of Native Americans who live in poverty. Your factually incorrect!

No it is correct have you seen some of the reservations with casinos on them? They're like gated mansion communities.

Again all baseless and ignorant.. please give me one "gated community with a casino on the middle of it. XD

Also in addition to the casinos, they make ton of money off of fireworks on New Years and the Fourth of July.

This is I will not entertain!

So your logic is because 35% of natives are unemployed then that means the casinos are not making money?

Also you live in Texas, head over to New Mexico and look at some of those reservations.

Your attempt at humour was...meh?
