Evolution by natural selection explains the fact, which is change over time in species, just like how General Relativity explains the fact of gravity.

The evolution that is in question is here the origin of life and it's progression to what we humans are now. If you think such an ongoing controversial and debatable topic is fact, then I don't what to tell you.

If you must know i was raised religious but i didnt like the way it was teaching humans how to live so i parted my ways from the religion for awhile and then chose my own beliefs and how i was going to live my life.

Biological evolution or Darwinian Evolution does not explain the origin of life, which is abiogenesis. Look up abiogenesis, it attempts to solve one of the unsolved problems of biology, "How did life begin?"
