No one will ever know, but that's why it's called faith.
I like to believe it's real, and I'd rather believe in something that gives me hope rather than nothing.
I've read a lot of philosophy, religious text, science, and just delved into deep thinking for most of my life. I would say it's definitely possible.
In my own personal belief, when we die we can choose to reincarnate or become one with "God". When we become one with "God" we gain his knowledge and his power while retaining all of our own mannerisms from all of our lives.
Reincarnation is a way to become close to "God". With every new life, means new knowledge, new perspectives, new experiences, and another step toward the final destination. Reincarnation is a way of redeeming your past self of sin instead of being punished eternally in hell.
If you lived a thousand past lives, then they are all a mix of good and bad. Not one or the other. God is everything, not good nor bad, he just is.
We would have the power to create our own heavens, worlds, universe, etc. and share it amongst everybody.
If everything was created by God, then we are all a piece of him, and death is the means of returning back to the source. That's what I like to believe.
