its an invention by humans. when u die you and your consicous will stop to exist. but people cannot understand the concept of "nothing" so they rather say there is an afterlife. i would say death is like....before you were born. you dont remember right? because u didnt exist back then..und you will stop existing....

But in religion, God is beyond human understanding, meaning heaven exists, but we have no knowledge of it.
