Well they were attacking Gedo's fingers!! And all they were doing was causing a little pain to the statue. It is not like when Bee and Naruto hit Gedo and sent him flying on his back. I think that was the point is to show the difference in power between Kakashi and Guy versus Naruto and Bee, Kakashi and guy attacked a finger and did little damage Naruto and Bee hit Gedo in the chest and knocked him on his back and it looked like he was out cold.

They are not really hurting it, just providing to be enough a pest to create openings for Naruto and Bee to get some really good hits on it.
Of course they are strong, they are Elite Johnin of the highest caliber, but they are not capable of really dealing lasting damage to the creature either. The fact he's taking all these attacks, even from both Bee and Naruto without being really injuried is a testiment how good it is.

Honestly it was disappointing to a certain extent it has the power of 7 beasts and 8 tails and naruto in km knocked it down. I thought Gedo with all those beasts would be considerably stronger and wreck like the perfect susanoo

We already saw the 9 tails equal the power of 5 beasts at once. It really wasn't that unexpected. Though again, observe how it isn't even harmed, really all they are doing at this point is knocking it about and giving it mild concussion with all their power. I predict that it can't use all the beasts energy within it, hence why Tobi is resorting to bringing out a incomplete 10 tails beast.
